Texas Senate confiscates tampons while debating anti-abortion bill [W:155]

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

As a native Texan, I am completely ashamed of the Texas Legislators who have made a laughing stock of Texas.
are you serious

For once, I'll have to agree with trfjr almost completely. I considered Texas government a laughing stock long before the passage of this bill.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

I am glad the Texas officials did this if for no other reason than it upsets the left. Sometimes you just got to piss-off the devil!

Nice pun....but not an amusing one.

If you agree with TRJR in any respect...I do offer my sincere condolences for your loss...of reason, logic, and for now being seen as a supporter of one of the most uninformed posters in DP.

i believe in the freedom of speech as long as i agree with that speech
i believe in the freedom of expression as long as you express my views
i believe in the freedom of protest as long as you don't protest against my agenda
i believe in the freedom of assembly as long as your assembly is not a threat to my philosophy

That sounds exactly like the Republicans in the Texas legislature.

With tampons.

I hope this ramps up secession talk again. Don't let the door hit ya....

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

Ummm...guns where allowed according to the reports.

And not everything is about ****ing guns for god's sake. Not everything is comparable to guns. Not every ****ing thread is about guns. Do you have a medical condition that having a gun on your person helps handle?

The hilarious part of this is you guys have no clue as to how you look to outsiders. You turn people off and harm your causes by this kind of stupidity.

There were two threads started on this (now merged) and both brought up guns in the OP so these threads were, in fact, about guns (at least partially).

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

You call them jackasses? Did you see the signs the protesters are having their children carry? That displays a complete loss of sanity over your ideology. And throwing urine and feces and tampons at people? These people have obviously COMPLETELY lost their minds.

They aren't to be admired. They deserve to be mocked.

I have already said I was perfectly fine with the stealing of someone's feces or urine and a variety of other items in the name of capital building security. I have also already said that those who throw things should be punished.

You need to read my posts before you try to check me.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

you need to clean your house before you judge some one else. show me one post of yours that you condemned any one on the left that label all on the right for the actions of a few Don't you dare talk to me about hypocrisy with you selective out rage.
i bet i can find a post of yours where you labeled all on the right for the actions of a few do you dare me to look

I regularly criticize people on both sides of the fence and both parties. I recently got into an argument with haymarket, for crying out loud.

My biggest pet peeve about American politics, aside from the hysteria, is the complete lack of consistency.

Feel free to go through my posts. You will be sorely disappointed.

No, I'm noting the fact that you seemed to feel a need to call the legislators (who are perhaps trying to protect themselves from being assaulted) as "jackasses," yet ignore the other side's jackassery.

Actually, I've been talking about the security people the whole time. They stole personal property for no good reason without giving clear notice that they were going to do so.

"Because a Republican told me so" is not a good reason.

ETA: Assuming of course that that's what happened to begin with. As I said, my beef is with security.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

It seems to me it would matter how the tampons were being carried. If it's one or two in a purse, it was probably an over reaction. If people were bringing them in by the case, I'd hope people in this thread would have enough common sense that those would probably not be for personal use.

If it was returned or offered to be returned as the people left the building it is NOT stealing either, so you're wrong on that point too. That would be temporary confiscation.

Ok this is funny. When we're talking about those throwing them, they're excused because tampons are light and there not much to them, confiscate them though and suddenly it's grand theft of this valuable thing.

Did you take it by force with no advance warning? You stole it. It isn't stealing if people are made aware beforehand AND they get to choose whether or not they will give up their personal property AND it is returned to them later.

Well, in the picture, the guy seems to be holding individual feminine hygiene products, not in a box. I think it was kind of stupid, but at the same time, I can't blame them. I wouldn't want a bunch of vicious women throwing their feminine hygiene products at me either.

I still can't get over the signs that the children were holding. Those people have to be some of the biggest losers on earth.

Yes, they have a choice. They can choose not to attend. No, advanced warning does not have to be given when you enter a public building. It's a part of security. I had my nail file taken out of my purse and temporarily confiscated when I entered a court house before, and there were no signs specifying that my nail file could be taken.

No one was forced to view the proceedings. People were made aware beforehand, they made their decision and, if they wanted, they could get their (extra) tampons returned.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

Ah. And how many tens of thousands of INNOCENT people are tampons and maxi-pads used to kill each year?

When the toilets don't flush and are overflowing, the last thing I'm thinking about is how many people have been killed by tampons.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

Funny thing is that people HAVE actually died from tampons. Toxic shock syndrome. The info about it is always included in the pamphlet inside the box of tampons. Lol. Just thought I'd throw that in there for the heck of it.

Menstruation and Toxic Shock Syndrome

Forget calling it theft. Robbery is theft by threat or force and that's what you're saying happened right? So security actually committed felony robbery. Those people were robbed.

What does that have to do with tampons? Did you even bother to read and understand my post? Or is reading just something us smug prancers do?

I don't... think he knows what tampons are for.
