There does seem to be a lot of confusion as to the difference between a budget and actual appropriation bills. The 2009 budget was never passed by the Democrat controlled Congress in 2008 but was signed by Obama in March 2009. Any idea how much he added to that budget?

It really is hard dealing with some here who simply have no concept of how the budget process works and have no problem following Obama over the cliff, just like many others through history have done following false leaders.
Why bother to quote someone if you're not going to address the post?

The issue was misuse of words, not budgets and appropriations.

I was comparing the like-mindedness of the many in this nation and their tolerance of our monster with the historical example of Germany in the mid and late 1930s and early 1940s and their monster. Can you really love this country and love the one who says he will fundamentally transform it? I think not. But one can love a tyrant.

The last first. I will be happy to compare reading lists with you. Shall we go left to right and top to bottom? Or would you like to move on to the digital library? That one is quite large as well.

You start. And why would you object to any particular book? Do you equally despise all who are for liberty, for limited government, and for the right to be left alone? What do you think of Madison, Jefferson and Washington? Do you despise them as well?

The Bush family is no friend of liberty. Romney was the wrong guy because of Romneycare. But he would have been better than the Marxist. I have admired N. Gingrich in the past. I admire him a little less these days.

Let's see you produce that first, you haven't yet and aren't even close. Good luck.

On that note, here are a few quotes.

"...Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."
Guess who? No, none of the Founding Fathers. Not Orwell.

    "Fascism is capitalism in decay."
    - Vladimir Lenin
Is our state not slowly decaying before our eyes?

“If tyranny and oppression come to this land it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”
    - James Madison

    Well damn, that sounds familiar

“When one with honeyed words but evil mind
Persuades the mob, great woes befall the state.”
    - Euripides, Orestes

    Older than dirt, still true.

“The means of defence against foreign danger have been always the instruments of tyranny at home. Among the Romans it was a standing maxim to excite a war, whenever a revolt was apprehended. Throughout all Europe, the armies kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved the people.”
    - James Madison

On the subject of tyranny, the world is well-experienced in its rise to power, its fall, and its intricacies. We would do well to learn from history, lest we be doomed to repeat it.

You don't know what the difference is between a budget surplus/deficit and the national debt.
"I do not claim that every incident in the history of empire can be explained in directly economic terms. Economic interests are filtered through a political process, policies are implemented by a complex state apparatus, and the whole system generates its own momentum."
