One month does not make a surplus and we are still headed to a huge yearly deficit. What has Obama proposed that actually cut spending?
What Romney would have done is a matter of conjecture.
I think he would have been more successful at getting Congress to actually address the problems we face, and might have been better at foreign affairs than Obama is, which is why I supported him back in '08.

My point is that the rabidly partisan among us would have been leaping and shouting that Romney singlehandedly cut the deficit in half, and not ranting about how the debt is still growing.

on a Sunday no less! instead of dwelling on what's wrong, think of where we would be if Bush had had another term or if Romney, the vulture capitalist (Gingrich's label, not mine), had won ...

now that you have your bookshelves, put some books in there and read them once in a while ... not the ones by Beck, Palin, or Rand ... the other ones ... a little knowledge will go a long way in your posts ... take care ...

Funny, how little you understand about today's Democratic Party. Seems Bush was able to create the mess all by himself according to Obamabots. Double standards?

There are some similarities, both had followers who bought the rhetoric and ignored the results. No matter how bad people said Hitler was his supporters continued to buy the rhetoric.

It is all very logical, in a circular sort of way.

Surprise! Huge US Budget Surplus Shatters Record

The U.S. government posted a budget surplus in June, the latest sign of rapidly improving public finances that could reduce the urgency in Congress to strike a deal to raise the nation's limit on borrowing.

Rising tax revenues, public spending cuts and big payments to the Treasury from state-backed mortgage firms helped the government take in $117 billion more last month than it paid out, the U.S. Treasury said on Thursday.

Analysts polled by Reuters had expected a smaller surplus of $39.5 billion.

June's surplus was the largest for that month on record.

Anybody else from PCF remember the desk thread? This sounds an awful lot like that guy.

Please provide us with the economic policies that Obama has put in place that has led to this so called surplus which if not mistaken is for a month. I remember many months that Bush had a surplus as well but didn't generate this kind of excitement. There does seem to be a lot of confusion as to the difference between a budget and actual appropriation bills. The 2009 budget was never passed by the Democrat controlled Congress in 2008 but was signed by Obama in March 2009. Any idea how much he added to that budget?

It really is hard dealing with some here who simply have no concept of how the budget process works and have no problem following Obama over the cliff, just like many others through history have done following false leaders.
