Anti-Americanism flares in Egypt as protests rage over Morsi's ouster

Right! It's not like he's The President, or anything. How foolish to think that The President take responsibility for what happens on his watch. That's totally asinine to think that.

Really, so Bush was responsible for 9/11? The economy tanking? Korea moving toward nukes? I guess I was wrong to defend him on those. I thought some had to actually have a hand in what happened. Silly me.

:roll::roll::roll:

He's right, weird or not.

America's political consciousness is ruled by this sickly impulse to ascribe to our presidents the responsibility of emperors.

The thing about emperors is that, although they were charged with absolute responsibility for the well being of their society and tended to live or die by that maxim, they also enjoyed broad freedom to punish or marginalize anyone who refused to comply with their vision of the future.

The only thing that can cause an emperor to fail is incompetent planning.

I don't have a high opinion of George Bush, but I never considered him more responsible for the excesses of the War on Terror than the American people as a whole.

no they look optimistic, which at the time was a hope of not only him but everyone around the world. Bush had ruined so much and he was seen and saw himself as the fixer. He has done some, but also continued lots of Bush policies, which disappointed a lot of people.

Again considering the cluster**** that Bush left him with... then he needed to be freaking Harry Potter to fix it all.

Yes, and it had a lot of help from the GOP. Not being able to get rid of GITMO because of GOP interference.

Never ever denied it did not.. that is you that are trying to gloat over something... of which your side had a large portion of blame in torpedoing but also creating.
You (and your Socialist accomplices) are deflecting, and doing a bad job of it.

Obama was the one who said the world and Muslims will look at Amerika differently after HE was elected. :screwy

Our Miss Amerika president. How much crap has this guy been shoveled his whole life to believe that dung? You've got to be a little more than living in some type of fantasy world to first believe such idiocy and then spout it to the world. Of course... the press never called him on it, or much else, and then there are the Miss Amerika Morons that voted for him believing it!

When I read through these threads... sometimes I have to just stand back in awe. These conservatives... its like they were created in a factory, scientists worked day and night to create the stupidest people possible, who would believe the dumbest things for the dumbest reasons and whose sole purpose was to poison progress and ruin everything they touch, dragging their feet and stomping around like whiny children. In every single event that occurs they throw a tantrum and cry about how they hate their mommy and wish she were dead. They know nothing about anything except for one thing, to attack everything good in the world as though it is evil.

So then, how should Obama have handled the situation? what should he have done when protesters took to the streets the first time? after the Brotherhood was elected? and what should he be doing now?

Q:- Since when did most Americans ever care what the rest of the world may or may not think about them?

A:- When it suits their agenda i guess....

There’s no question that this OP is a political hitpiece but it’s also factual. Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in October 2009, before he had done jack squat as president and the media had chills running up their legs because he was so awesome. Anyone who dared disagree with him, Hillary included, was a racist. He was as good as the second coming of Christ before he did anything. He promised the stars and nearly everyone bought it hook, line and sinker.

He was the perfect president who was going to repair the damage to America’s reputation all over the world. He was going to sit down and negotiate with his enemies and they would all be as charmed by his personality as we were here in America. He was a different kind of president because he lived among them and broke bread with them. He understood them in ways no president has ever understood international problems.

In the end, it turns out he isn’t any better than any other President. He doesn’t walk on water, he doesn’t heal the sick minds that exist around the world and he doesn’t have any more of a clue about what to do than president before him.

If you support him for his social agenda, that’s another thing altogether but his international record isn’t very good, particularly if you are honest enough to admit that his war on Libya clearly violated the War Powers Act and his refusal to even speak a positive word in support of the Iranian protesters was an utter failure, no matter how you slice it.

The OP has a valid point: Obama was over hyped and failed miserably when it came to delivering anything resembling the Nobel Peace Prize President we were promised.

It's Obama's statements about how the world will look differently at HIS Amerika that was a statement as brilliant as a bag of rocks, and then there are morons who actually believed the clap trap.

Now... there is one group of people with some serious issues. The Miss Amerika Morons who actually believed our Miss Amerika President.

And I have to laugh at your last line, for it's the Libs who have been destroying America little by little over the past 70-years... it's you folks who value the Constitution as if it's a used piece of toilet paper.

And attack?! ROTFLOL... your party is the disgusting group of pukes who vote to send troops to war and then stab them in the back when they most needed support. You and your party illustrated you're lower than the lowest scum sticking to dark corners of this planet.

How on earth are we deflecting? Do you even know what the word means?

Obama was the one who said the world and Muslims will look at Amerika differently after HE was elected. :screwy

And so what? He has said a lot of things, and hope for a lot of things, but not everything is possible.. that is politics.

Again total denial of your own hero's complicity in the whole situation... classic conservative denial...

Wait a second, Obama recieved a Nobel Peace Prize for what he was expected to do and he failed to deliver. I know you're a political hack but even you must know how silly the pre-ordained worship was for a man who had done nothing yet.

Yes he received a Nobel Peace Prize for what was expected of him.. still burns that the black socialist muslim guy who just got elected over the old white christian guy got something that no right winger has gotten in decades ...

Listen, like it or not, repairing the damage that Bush did, both Jr and Sr and the damage of Reagan and even Clinton.. is not something that can happen overnight or maybe never. Point is, people on the right are blaming everything on Obama, when there is plenty of blame to go around and he certainly did not create the problems in the middle east, nor the policies that lead to the problems.

Look at Iran. They hate the US (the politician),.. why? Because of the policies of US administration from Eisenhower to Reagan... supporting a brutal dictator... is that also Obama's fault?

You are a racist!

You are a racist!

Am I now... more denial and deflecting away from the truth I see.

Funny how mentioning right wing Presidents and their policies as the root cause of the issue is totally ignored... guess facts are a bitch... and it is easier to throw around slurs and ignore them.

No, you are a racist because you can't get over the fact that this president is black. It doesn't matter if you support him because he's black or oppose him because he's black. in either instance, you are being a racist.

Sorry but I don't view them that way and you are a racist bigot for viewing them this way.

I aint the one who is viewing them in this way... lol... I was making the point that many on the US right viewed it in this way and it was bloody obvious to anyone watching from the outside. When the GOP accused him of being a Muslim, we all knew that it was code for "black". They could not attack him on race, but they surely could imply that he was not a Christian, and since the stereotype is that most Christians are white, and most Muslims are dark skinned, then well..

In no way does Egypt and the turmoil there now have anything to do with America and the fool in the White House. There really is nothing for America to do now - no benefit to taking sides - just a need to stay engaged on the sidelines, encourage calm and a quick return to democracy and elections, assist that process whichever direction it takes, and live with the results. No country wants America telling them who should be their leaders.

Similarly, in Iraq, America has let the people of that country determine who leads them and they'd be wise to do the same thing in Afghanistan moving forward. America benefits by assisting people to overcome tyranny but those same people need the freedom to choose their own path forward.

I see, you just make more of a persons race than others do because you know they think the same way you think about race. Is that it? Muslims are all black in your mind? Obviously it was a racist GOP because Obama claimed to be a Christian right before he said he was a Muslim. Obviously, in your racist little mind that had nothing to do with flip-flopping as a politician and had everything to do with the color of his skin.

Muslims and Christians aren't defined by color!

I rest my case!!! You are a friggin racist!!!

Just as it should be.

They claimed he was a Muslim long before Obama said anything the remotely back up their claim. It all started with the whole birther crap and people pointing out that his father was Muslim and hence Obama was born Muslim according to Islamic law and all that crap.

And it is not my fault you are in denial that race matters in the US and especially in certain.

Muslims and Christians aren't defined by color!

Tell that to the American right wing.... I know fully well that people are not defined by color. But when you hear comments from American right wingers, like WHO health statistics are bull**** because the US has more blacks and latinos and they drag down the statistics... then well. And yes it has happened more than once on these boards.

I rest my case!!! You are a friggin racist!!!

Nope, not even close.. not even close.

I'm not a GOP but I'm an informed American. I remember the election well and I challenge you to prove your claims that mainstream GOP was calling Obama a Muslim at any time, much less before he called himself a Muslim in an interview.

As for the "American right wing", nothing you said about it proves anything or detracts from the fact that you love to separate people into races, religions and other profiles. People aren't people to you because they are a skin color, religion, sexual orientation, etc... This is what racists do. You might think you aren't a racist because you don't hate the popular groups but you can't escape the fact that you see the world through skin color and religion colored glasses.

You, Pete EU, are the most dangerous kind of racist there is!

Good observation. It was very "crappy" of Obama to have been the one to have started the "birther crap". He is the original "birther" and honest people recognize that. So always remember, when throwing stones at birthers, save one for the guy that started it all.
