After DOMA, gay couples still would not receive many federal benefits. [W:345]

It's a technicality for sure, but so was the SCOTUS punting on it to begin with. Do not have standing, although legally correct, morally wrong in a nation that promotes a system of the people, by the people and for the people. If the people are not the Prop 8 proponents then who is? Certainly not the AG at the time, Jerry Brown, he was but one person, not the PEOPLE.

By the way, I'll see your link and add another link to the proper and legal argument against SSM:

Um, you recall prop 8 was actually passed by the people. They were not for gay marriage.

Um.....have you ever heard of changing demographics and people realizing that the Mormon church orchestrated a huge lie on them? Sorry....but marriage equality is supported by huge majorities in California...but you keep clinging to that deceit and propoganda if it makes ya feel better.

Dying out? Hardly. Just because the media is biased and doesn't cover anything against SSM doesn't mean we are dying out.

Yes, slowly and surely dying out. It's not an immediate death but a slow and painful one for anti-SSM folks. Have fun yelling at the hurricane lol

Because some of us still have a moral compass.

And almost without exception, those who proclaim their "moral superiority" are almost always the most immoral of all. Bigotry and hatred are not "Christian values" and certainly not Christ-like.

Well, since 2009 CA has lost what? About 2 million inhabitants who fled to Texas, and AZ due to higher tyrannical taxation? I'm guessing that the large majority of them were conservatives, or the kind that would have initially opposed SSM in CA. Just a guess though.. ;)

Tim-

Good riddance. There are already too many people in California...we don't need the wacko right-wingers here.

I'm sorry, how did the Mormon Church come into this?

Why did I just get the image of an old man shaking his fist yelling "You kids keep off my lawn!!!!"

So now I am full of hatred? Really? Didn't know you even met me.

Pay attention. If you knew anything about Prop 8 you would know that it was funded in large part by the Mormon church.

Pretty sure the people made the decision themselves. And what is this so-called lie of the Morman church regarding Prop 8? Do englighten me.

Of course not, just look at Detroit who felt the same way. read my tagline, DD.

That's a pretty common misconception:

But that's neither here nor there, and I'd rather not derail the thread with irrelevant nonsense.

The more likely reason that polling data has shifted leftwards is that we're no longer being inundated with misinformation from social conservative organizations. As it turns out, when people are presented with facts about gay marriage (rather than fearmongering bull****) they tend to support it.

Get between a progressive and his agenda and he'll make you out to be a hater. They get this from their overly permissive mommies because when they were little spoiled brats, they used to throw tantrums in the grocery store because mommy didn't give them a candy bar. Mommy gave in and that was that. Spoiled brat tantrum has been their go-to tactic every time when they don't get their way.

Serious. If you are going to try to debate prop 8 you need to bring yourself up to speed. The pro-prop H8 campagin was based on a number of lies and other propoganda, mainly claiming that churches would be forced to marry gay people and school children would be required to attend gay weddings. Propoganda has proved to be effective, but nevertheless....it is always based on lies. Lying in the name of God is still lying...agree?

As opposed to the funding on the other side of the equation? I'm not sure I understand your point? Why does funding matter in your opinion and specifically how is one's funding different that the other's?

A conservative court ruled it too. Seems like even some conservatives understand equality. *Claps*

I learned a long time ago that some conservatives are mighty liberal when it comes to human rights.

Well you and I both know that, but they think they are acting civil.
