Proving that you don't know what you are talking about is SO easy.

Actually, all it requires is study and research... rather than just spewing doctrine without understanding where it comes from and what it means.

Sorry you got all bent out of shape over this, Captain. I only meant to say that it's something people should think about before claiming God-knowledge superiority because it's something damned near all psychotics do.... talk to God. Not saying your psychotic. Just saying it's a really strange thing to hear people saying given that if they're truly sane they should know 2 things. 1), they don't really know God all that well. 2), they don't know how much anyone else knows about God, either.

But take it for what it's worth. Claims to know God more than other people are strange. People who aren't pscyhotic can certainly say things like that. But people who are psychotic, do, too. Just sayin'.
You can't reason anyone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.

Here's the thing, though. Knowledge and understanding of God's words are not just about attending religious services and following doctrine. I often see a lot of that with people here... and people "out there". As with most things, critical examination of various sources and understanding how things were developed and interpreted and WHY things were interpreted the way they were/are often helps with understanding. Religion and faith is so subjective and many of the documents describing doctrine are so old and shrouded in mystery that understanding them can be a real challenge. My point is that regurgitating scripture without understanding the context, history, and interpretation doesn't mean one understands God's words. To me, that's how Tex presents.

Psychotics present a little differently than what I just described.

You're talking about understanding of religion here, but you were talking about knowing all about GOD. I'm pretty well versed on religion, too. But there's not one thing I can tell you I know for sure about God. And I'm sure what makes anyone else think they would know more. It's odd stuff. I get it with psychotics. They have voices in their heads, but what about people who are almost certainly somewhat sane like you or me.... what would give us the notion that we had some inside track on knowing all about God?

Let me clarify. Understanding God's words is more of what I meant. Understanding God Himself, at least to me, is a very personal thing.

Seems I'm not the only one that needs to be more clear in what they're posting in order to make sure people don't get the wrong impression, then.
