Most of Illinois and Chicago's Laws went into affect Jan 1 of this Year. This piece stated over 150 but actually it over 214 new laws.

Over 150 new Illinois laws go into effect in 2013.....

    Among those laws:
Bosses will no longer be able to demand access to employee’s social media accounts.
Parents who allow underage drinking will face stricter penalties — not only at their home, but also on property under their control, like a boathouse, cabin or barn.
Illinois residents will no longer be able to possess, sell, trade or try to sell a shark fin.
Relatives who help a fugitive run from police will face criminal charges. Until now, they have been exempt from prosecution.

There are several changes to the state’s firearms owner identification program. Anyone convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence, and those found to be mentally ill will not be issued FOID cards, or they will have their cards revoked.....snip~

Going into affect on July 1 are the New Speeding Laws. Which Illinois and Chicago will be looking to make money off those who speed. From its own citizens and of course from all others.

I am so glad I left that state. WTF is wrong with the law makers there wanting to control every aspect of everything. So much for freedom in the state of Illinois.

Heya BM .....yeah now the Demos will make money off the parents for when their kids are drinking. Even if the parents didn't know.

Wish they would come up with that law wherein a District Attorney pushes a case to trial, wastes the tax payers money, was wrong, only did so for political expediency.....that they would then be prosecuted and then sent to the very prisons they have been sending people. Like Pontiac or Statesville.

Wherein pencil-neck geeks actually pay a price for the severe mistakes they make and create.

I heard Colorado has some gun Laws that were going into effect today. But so far none here from there has said if it was true or not. I am sure there are some other really strange laws popping up around the country today too.

Other than the gun law changes, which I'm not quite up to speed on yet, I would have to agree with those specified above.
Building block or stumbling block.... choose.

I actually like the social media and shark fin law. Being a diver the whole shark fin thing is good. The rest I have seen so far are well overbearing to say the least.

Yeah I am not against the Shark fin law either.....nor that social media one. Still Illinois is the State ready to file bankruptcy and is worse off than California. So they are looking to make, scam, and steal money any way they can.

Exactly. The taxes are so overbearing there. No wonder people are leaving in droves.

You have to have the spine of a jellyfish to be offended by the word "penmanship".

    LOL, people are so pathetic.

Around the nation, July 1 marks the start of new fiscal years and the date recently passed legislation goes into effect, although states often mark their independence by enacting new regulations on their own calendars.

The laws and effective dates vary somewhat from state to state, but an overview of legislation set to hit the books Monday shows that state lawmakers took positions on the following five topics of national debate:

    — GUNS
    — TECH
    — CARS
    — ABORTION
    —DRONES

Not all of the measures set to take effect were matters dominating national political discussion. The following five examples of recently approved legislation show state-level updates can cover a variety of topics:

    — SEXIST LANGUAGE: Washington lawmakers are completing work to strip the state's books of sexist language. References to "his" will be changed to "his or her," college "freshmen" will become "first-year students" and "penmanship" will be called "handwriting."

    — TANNING: Dozens of states this year considered keeping minors out of tanning beds. New Jersey and Nevada restrictions kick in July 1, and an Oregon limit takes effect in January. The home of MTV's reality series "Jersey Shore" and its famously bronzed cast, however, took the law beyond sun lamps to block anyone younger than 14 from getting even a spray tan.....snip~

Many state laws going into effect tomorrow. What are some New laws in your state that you may find strange or interesting. Or that you think all should know about. Any affect others coming from other states?

Kentucky says people can now drink on Election Day in their state. Plus Wyoming is going to have their First State lottery.
