Yes, currently that is probably how it would work. But this says nothing about how it might work at some point in the future. See history and other countries currently and their tolerance levels for Christianity. It's a matter of what most people think at a given time. The "reason" articulated may be solid or faltering, but it's actions are based on what people believe at the time to be best, not necessarily based on any fact.

You should, however, do a little self-analysis on why you are uncomfortable about it. You've said it doesn't affect you in any way. So why care?
Well..basically because I don't feel it is natural..

Your hypothetical persecution complex is not something I'm going to discuss in this thread.

Calling out bigotry doesn't make you a bigot. Calling out racism does not make you a racist. When did conservatives get so whiny?

You don't seem to understand. The supreme law of this country is the Constitution, which requires an Amendment, done through a supermajority, to change. And laws must show that they do not violate the Constitution once challenged. Laws on marriage which restrict access to it based on a person's sex/gender in relation to another person violate the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution because the state cannot show a legitimate state interest is furthered by restricting marriage to opposite sex couples only or from those people who are of the same sex.

It is interesting to me that liberals think the world is fair for the most part, or that humans are basically "good" inside. There are countless examples of the genocide of millions of human beings based on the meanest criteria.
I personally believe in an absolute Truth. God. An absolute authority. That is my point, not a fear of a falling sky. If we are reliant only on the choice of the majority or even super-majority, then Hitler was not ultimately bad nor wrong, he was simply not popular enough.

Tell me something they are pushing for that you wouldn't also get the right to do/for as well.

When same sex couples are allowed to marry, this means that anyone, gay, straight, bi, or asexual can marry a person of the same sex, not just homosexuals. When same sex couples/gays are allowed to adopt children, this means anyone who can show the same ability to care for a child regardless of their sexuality or relationship to another adult of the same sex can adopt children. They only will have to meet the same requirements as opposite sex couples or heterosexuals. If laws are changed to protect sexuality from being used against a person in commerce or hiring/firing decisions, then they will apply to heterosexuals as well. Because as of right now, in any state that doesn't have such laws, heterosexuals can be fired for their sexuality the same as homosexuals can. Hate crime laws will apply to heterosexuals too. If they are the target of a crime just based on animosity toward their sexuality, then they can receive the same judicial benefits placed on their attackers.
