Of course it easy to get one illegally,, which bypasses all the mickey mouse laws and obstacles put in the way of law abiding citizens.
that sucks and shouldn't be - people have the right to own guns if they wish, but I strongly favor universal background check (with some 90% of the pop.), limits on magazine capacity (at least give people a few people a chance to escape or tackle the ahole), and banning certain weapons (Scalia seems to agree with me on that - which, btw, makes me nervous) ...

Sowell and I go wayyyyyy back, although I wasn't referring to him (I believe he's at the Hoover Institute now, isn't he?) ... I was referring to the two posters ... as to Sowell, I'm not going to waste my time discussing him on these threads ... he's one of those "cultural deficiency" theorists I don't have much time for ... he in effect argues that blacks are in the position they're in because of their culture - an argument that cons, especially white cons, find very appealing - Let's blame the victim! Yeah, the black guy says it's their fault! But you've seen me take issue with this view in the past Paul ... no need to belabor it anymore. How is he as an economist? I hear he's another Milton Friedman wannabe ... his sociology is not very good (sloppy actually) ... maybe he's better as an economist ...

How on earth can one critique this comment (undeniably tasteless) and proceed to use the term plantation as a rhetorical device? A bit of consistency is in order here.

I'm from Louisiana and I don't know if it's different than the 1950's, or not since I was born in 1968.

What part of the deep south did you grow up in, during the 1950's?

    I love Thomas Sowell's work. He's a great American.

I didn't grow up in the South (but was around for the 50s), but you're a baby apdst ... 1968? Wow ... you really did miss a lot and that helps to explain some of your posts ...

I never saw or even heard of any cross burnings in my parish. What part of the south are you from?
