Lewis Points Finger At ‘Rich White People’ For School Problems [W:178]

I have never seen progressives "proudly admit" that the white race will disappear. That must be the strawman in your head again.
Nah, it's just what he takes from their inferences. I get the same takes, too. ;)

Just so you know, I don't believe any liberal/progressive would ever openly admit such a thing. It's just too ..... truthful.

iow, the only place it's been heard is in the minds of right wingers.

........... So it begs the question: Which group has more to gain by keeping these groups poor and uneducated? The Democrats (votes), or the Republicans (greed)?

This is very poorly stated, and I charge, hugely inaccurate.

First off, votes = power = greed. So the lust for power is certainly a huge part of why the Dems keep the blacks down.

But with regard to the second part of your foolish statement, I will assume you meant Republican "greed" as a greed for wealth. The problem is that there is no monetary wealth benefit in a capitalist society by keeping a large segment of it poor and uneducated. Its quite the opposite effect.

Somebody show me wrong.

This would have probably made a lot more sense if he had left the "white" part out. There is a big difference between the schools in poor neighborhoods and rich ones, but the rich blacks are enjoying those same nice schools, just like the poor white ones are stuck in the ****tier ones. It amazes me how poor white people, or rich minorities are often ignored in these types of discussions. There is a big gap between rich and poor schools but making it a race issue isnt going to solve anything.

If a race-based culture is the problem, as so many statistics overwhelmingly show it to be, then to ignore it, as you suggest, is to continue the stupidity.

I don't think Rahm Emmanuel is black...

I don't know what happens in Illinois, but I know that in many states because of how schools are funded, inner-city students tend to get shafted when it comes to funding. I don't know that it's racism per se, but it's not even "Separate but equal," it's separate and un-equal. You can call it any number of things, but it's an awfully big coincidence that there's a lot of minority students that get shafted in education.

allow me to confirm that Rahm is not black, but he did work for a black president ...

what we're talking about is institutional racism, but I've stopped trying to explain that on these threads .... on these threads it takes a cross burning or lynching to convince some posters that racism exists ...

Yeah, I have to agree with the first part. So you've got no argument here.

The second part, not so much. We've stopped making stuff here, and that can't all be on the government.

stats show that the problem is culture? Wow ... ya better tell all those sociologists who have devoterd their lives to the study of race and racism and for the most part conclude that the problem is structural ...

Again, the question was: How does keeping a segment of our society poor and uneducated translate into satisfying a wealth greed within capitalism ?

There is no "greed" component serving the GOP to keep a group poor and uneducated. They derive no power, no profit, nothing, from such a group. Only the Dems benefit via the political power attained by having a poor and ignorant black America vote 90% + for Democrats.

As long as governments divide us into little race boxes and then treat us differently based on color, ethnicity or other real or imagined divisions then racism will continue.

Sure it is. We no longer have a good legal environment and we have more than 80,000 regulations with about 400 new regulations released every month. Why would anyone put up with it? There are better places these days to open up a business than the United States. That is absolutely the fault of government.

Really? Not sharing power or wealth is not gaining power/wealth either personally or for your interests?

Even that, I think would not get them to. Or they'd blame it on Democrats because they don't understand that there was a time when the radical progressives were Republicans and the Dems were conservative.
