And? Private schools aren't unionized (most of them to my knowledge) so she's also taking a shot at blaming non-unionized schools and the "rich white people" who go to them. Diverting the blame onto the non-unionized school system and away from the teacher's union. Two birds with one stone. My original point stands.

I don't necessarily disagree with that position. There's a lot to be said for the fact that coming from a family situation where education is not valued causes a lot of problems. But that's also true in some suburban situations.

However, the position of the OP is that Rahm Emanuel is black (he's not), and that it's the Democrats' fault.

Suburban schools still have better opportunity than inner-city ones. Public schools, not private. They have unionized teachers too, but get better results.

Well if it is going to be blamed on the politicians it would be, as in Detroit, the Democratic Party..

Yes. Most, if not all, the people I'm talking about are liberals. What does this have to do with what I said?

As for taxes and how they are divvied up:
    Personal Property Replacement Tax
51.65% of school allocation goes to Cook County currently.

Now...I know this is old data. But:
    http://tax.illinois.gov/AboutIdor/Ta...s/00ptax50.pdf

    The state took 270M
    Cook took in 125M
The collar counties of Kane, DuPage, Lake, McHenry, and Will took in 135M
The rest of the state took in 9mill.

The suburbs are subsidizing about 8% or $10million of the Cook County school district from what I can gather from that. Of course those numbers have changed since 2000 but I bet the allocation percents havent changed much.
I never said anything about taxes so why are you addressing this to me?

What blame does the Chicago's Teachers Union share in the problem with Chicago public schools? Be specific and show causation.

What's wrong with diverting blame from something that isn't to blame?

He was just mixing up Chicago with Baltimore. In either case the public schools aren't exactly pumping out Einsteins.
There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences.

The first part was to you. The second part was to have a clear understanding of how taxes are allocated in Cook County. That is, they are getting more than they are putting in.

It aint all about you :P

It's just blacks trying to point their fingers and blame "the man". We all know that African-Americans have never been good with owning up to their own shortcomings.

Money is just a convenient scapegoat.
