Supreme Court strikes down Arizona voter ID citizenship law

Well, AZ is toast. I can't even begin to imagine how many people will be bussed in to be handed a box lunch and a ballot.

That's why the AZ legislature is now hard at work on a law to ban beans and tortillas.

Somebody explain to me again. Why is it if voter fraud is so rampant, why is there so little evidence of it?

Might wanna use a different word. AZ is not familiar with the term "evidence."

Thank god no one is arguing for that.

Give it time. That is why some states abolished parole. The Courts were saying that the states were not giving prisoners adequate time for hearings and since the feds were not going to pony up all the additional money needed for more staff to give their inmates some ill-defined appropriate amount of time and representation at the hearings, they just did away with them altogether as parole itself is not a right under the Constitution.

Interesting to note, the State can change their DMV policies to require additional information, which would carry over and in essence re-enact the same policy.

Non-citizens can get a license, and it is actually better that you allow them to do so. Even an illegal immigrant.

The voting precinct is not your shady ass bar. If you think no checking is done at all, why do you think there is even a registration process? Why not just let anyone wander in and vote?

Anyone can wander in and vote though.

I don't know if it is necessarily rampant but how would you go about proving it if you're not even allowed to check ID?

I am very familiar with what they were supposed to be and what they have become instead. Noted that you feel comfortable with a ruling council.

I feel comfortable with the AMERICAN system of government, where US citizens are not deprived of voting.

And, again, we have a system of checks and balances. Don't like SCOTUS? Then ask Congress to impeach SCOTUS members.

Didn't state that the State should or would do that, except that it would be the only route to do so because even though the Supreme Court indicated that they can request additional State specific requirements to the federal commission, its not a valid route as the commission hasn't had a member since 2011, and the President hasn't appointed anyone to the post either.

That round of red-tape sounds very Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy-esque.

Couldn't possibly be because the House has continually blocked Presidential appointments at the highest rate in history.

Actually, the Supreme Court is part of our system of checks and balances, designed to keep a group of crazies from running over the Constitutional rights of others. Seems that, in this case, the system is working good.

They've certainly allowed the 4th, 6th and 10th Amendments to be ignored. They seem to be moving away from the Constitution, which is what an 'activist' Presidency would prefer.

Huh. Who could have predicted this outcome? The Supreme Court is highly unpredictable in its decisions sometimes

Consider a partisan agenda and it starts to make sense.

Think "what decisions can we make that will inflame conservative voters".

Rather tough to block something that hasn't happened. Doubly so since the President hasn't put any of the 4 positions forward, nor can the House do anything about it, as its the Senate that confirms those choices.

So what you are saying is that if fraud is not 'rampant' we shouldn't worry about it. Kind of like saying if violent crime is low in your town, don't worry about it.

Because of crap like this. Same reason we have 11-20 million illegals here despite the fact we have laws against the illegal crossings. Lack and neutering of enforcement.

It barely exists. I live in a great little town, I rarely lock my doors (course I have 2 big dogs) but if violent crime in my town is as rare as voter fruad I imagine we could lay off half of our police force.

Well good. Exactly how much voter fraud would you consider a problem? How about violence? And if the following is factual, voter fraud is rampant enough to have determined a Presidential election...what do you think?

Gore Won Florida.

BTW: I was born in Indiana.
