Mexican-American boy's national anthem sparks racist comments

    Mexican-American boy's national anthem sparks racist comments - CNN.com <-- clicky

(CNN) -- An 11-year-old boy's rendition of the national anthem at Game 3 of the NBA finals brought the usual appreciative applause Tuesday, but outside AT&T Center in San Antonio, his performance brought a darker reaction from some posters on social media -- and eventually an online backlash against their racist comments.

    Here's video:

-- "Why they got a Mexican kid singing the national anthem -___-" from Daniel Gilmore.

-- "How you singing the national anthem looking like an illegal immigrant" from Andre Lacey, proud father and firefighter from Augusta, Georgia.

-- "Why is a foreigner singing the national anthem. I realize that's San Antonio but that still ain't Mexico" from Lewie Groh.

-- "Who let this illegal alien sing our national anthem?" from Matt Cyrus.

It's embarrassing to be an American sometimes.....

The morality of abortion is not a religious belief, any more than the morality of slavery, apartheid, rape, larceny, murder or arson is a religious belief. These are norms of the natural law of mankind and can be legislated even in a completely religionless society.

He was born in San Antonio. Just as American, probably more, than the asshats making the comments.

Nothing racist about wondering if a Mexican-looking kid was chosen to sing our national anthem while millions of illegal immigrants are in the process of being rewarded for breaking into our country, marching down our streets with their flags, demanding that we speak their language, educate their children and cut them welfare checks...all while smearing anyone who objects as a bigot.

Seriously, lay down this mindless, hysterical race-card. You have UTTERLY overplayed and discredited it at this point and it carries ZERO weight.

We should never stand down when it comes to racism.

There weren't "wondering" in their comments aquapub, they were assuming. All brown people are illegals = racism, or at least xenophobia.

BTW, weight is the word for which you were looking.

What do YOU look like. Hateful comments based upon what someone looks like is the product of a sick mind.

We should never militantly obsess over race to such a level of absolute hysteria that any and every issue can be race-baited into a controversy, which is what is happening here. Americans are right to wonder if this is another attempt to shove Mexico down our throats. It happens non-stop.

It's not hateful. We're being overrun by foreign criminals. It's a pretty minor infraction to assume he's one of the MILLIONS while such insanity is being forced on us.

He is an American. He does not look like you. I am sure he is glad. Get over it.
