Apparently, there are quite a number of people on DP who haven't gotten that memo.

    I agree,you did make a truthful statement.

I'm not directing this at you,ChrisL,but there is an old saying in the restaurant business.

The kid is a citizen and so are his parents (his father served honorably in the US Navy). The kid celebrates their hispanic heritage and his American identity. Personally I'm no fan of the hispanic equivilent of disco that is mariachi, but the kid likes it and does it very well. He sang the anthem with sincerity (and beautifully) which is more than I can say for a lot of the anthem singers I've heard over the course of my lifetime.

Remember Roseanne Barr's rendition? I still like her though. She's really funny IMO.

I guess that's what you get when you ask comediennes to sing the National Anthem.

    No. You're wrong.

Racist people will naturally question it. Only racist people.

    Not all people. Not people.

I kinda like the saying "Too many cooks spoil the broth--so throw the asshats out of the kitchen."

Actually, I just made that up.

I don't assume every Hispanic is an illegal immigrant. But probably tells me that most illegal immigrants are Hispanic.

Thing about racists is they don't think of themselves as racists.

There's actually some pretty intense racism in this thread, but to them, their racist comments are seen as legitimate in their own universe.

Actually you'd might be surprised how many times chefs like myself have uttered the same sentiment,if not those exact same words. There has been a few times when I had to tell my own wife "honey,I love you,but I don't tell you what to do when you are in the operating room performing surgery,so don't tell me how to cook in my own kitchen". My wife is Cajun and doesn't seem to understand that not everything goes good with "Slap Yo' Mamma" hot sauce.
