    Another kind of recent war...

Tri-State Water Wars GA, FL, ALA

For almost two decades, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida have been battling over the future allocation of water in two major river basins that cross their borders. Georgia wants to have enough water to allow metro Atlanta to continue growing, while Alabama and Florida—the downstream users—want enough water flowing for their own economic well-being. The dispute involves several federal agencies, courts and mediators, and its outcome is one of the most important environmental issues in the region today.
Disputes between nations are a little more serious than internal strife IMHO

    100 mw.

And right now they are building one in Western Arizona.

Giant Arizona Solar Tower: High Energy with Hot Air

Unlike other concentrated solar power technologies, it uses a minimum amount of water. The ground under the greenhouse heats up as well and allows the unit to operate 24/7.

Or do all three projects approved to be built in AZ for 520 mw....

US: Three renewable energy projects approved in Arizona and Nevada

U.S. Secretary of Interior Sally Jewell has announced the approval of three major renewable energy projects that are expected to deliver up to 520MW to the electricity grid.

The 350MW Midland Solar Energy Project and the 70MW New York Canyon Geothermal Project are located in Nevada, and the 100MW Quartzsite Solar Energy Project is located in Arizona.

    How's that for starters?
Rob, apparently there are issues with that project.

However there is another project that just got the green light for construction near Quartzite, AZ.

Agreed. Was just saying that the fights have been around. Although I agree that they will get much worse. Which seems to be a great time to invest in desalinization technology.

That blows that the deal with California fell through. I sure hope it still gets built. With an operational staff of less than 50 people producing 100 mw... that's rather impressive. They still intend to break ground next year so I wouldn't be surprised if that California power company was pulling a barter move to get a better price per watt.

It's purdy dog-gone windy in the desert, too. I'm thinking the Etiopians have noticed the failure of wind and solar.

Someone could stop the whole dam project by introducing snaildarters into the river.

Fewer jobs and more costly energy? Pardon me if I'm not convinced.

Yeap, and combined with the harsh economical situation in Egypt, that country is definitely heading to a very "bright" future.

Yet the Germans haven't. Probably because Ethiopians are so much more technologically knowledgeable and savvy than Germans I suppose.
