Transgender Navy SEAL 'Warrior Princess' Comes Out[W:181, 607]

re: Transgender Navy SEAL 'Warrior Princess' Comes Out[W:181]

uh why are they wrong to engage in same sex relationships?

I believe, according to the bible, this is a sin and is therefore wrong.

Friendships and families can also be destroyed by someone coming out as gay, should they do the "heroic" thing and stay in the closet? You have to live for yourself, if your loved ones can't deal that is their problem.

And assuming that doing this will cause havoc on the family is simply not true, their are many trans parents who have great relationships with their kids, and former spouses. Hell some spouses even stay with them.

For example, Laura Jane Grace, lead singer of the band Against Me! came out as trans, and is transitioning, has a kid, and a wife, and the family grew because of it. Her, and her wife are still together, and raising their little girl together. So assuming that someone doing this is this horrible thing is just wrong.

That's nice.

You're assuming here what you think I assume.

And I don't think you can really compare someone coming out as gay with someone undergoing gender reassignment. Explaining that you are interested sexually/romantically in the same gender is NOT the same as changing your gender. And let's be frank about the kids. It's asking one helluva lot to expect someone who has loved you as mommie or daddy to accept that you are no longer mom or dad. I'm not saying that the love will die, only that it's extremely challenging and expecting a lot from a kid.

I will have to tell you about the time I went to see Ricki at work. She worked at a bar featuring TS dancers, plus one pre and one post op TV. I have never in my life been so uncomfortable as they got carried away good naturally trying to embarrass me.

Lol, I can totally imagine it. I'd explode right into flames, like a vampire exposed to sunlight.

If this were my father, I would rather him have been killed in action rather than return and disgrace us this way.

That's the kind of mindset that leads to honor killings. Just saying. I don't believe anyone can shame you without your consent.

Moderator's Warning:
Folks, we've got to get some things straight here. Several infractions have been issued, and there will be more if some things don't stop.

One: no more saying this guy is Navy Pride, or any other DP poster for that matter. That is baiting.

Two: No more personal attacks. You can badmouth someone's words quite a lot, but when you direct disparaging words directly at a poster that is personal attack, and we gig for that.

Discuss the topic, not each other, and mind the rules. This is your warning.

This is one of those comments that sounds thoughtful on the surface, but isn't at all in reality.

It's meaningless drivel.

ok-I don't so I don't

I'll add that logical reasoning when reverse-engineering the human body supports Tex.

I would ask for simple compassion. Rejecting one's gender is just such an enormous issue, such a rare thing. I can't pretend to understand it; I've never walked a mile in those shoes and am so, so grateful that I have not. But I think it's fair to say that SEALS probably define themselves as among the most macho of men and that this SEAL's decision must have been agony for him, now her.

Oh wow, I can't wait to see the explanation for this statement. :popcorn2:

I didn't say we would have murdered him, but I would be ashamed and embarrassed. I don't have to worry about it, he wasn't queer and he's been dead for many years.

How would you ever know though, what if he had just never came out of the closet...?

No, it's the science, you clearly are ignorant.

Social sciences.

Leaning on that term is so stupid.

Ah, for those whose parents or kids aren't gay or experiencing gender ID problems, it's all just theory anyway. You can't honestly say that you'd know how you would react--in the moment or ultimately either--until you've experienced it.

There are a lot of MTF trans people in the military. Most use it trying to "man up", and get rid of their dysphoria about their gender. Though, it doesn't work, and eventually most transition.

Re: Transgender Navy SEAL 'Warrior Princess' Comes Out[W:181]

What does "MTF" mean?

Re: Transgender Navy SEAL 'Warrior Princess' Comes Out[W:181]

Oh. You mean "male-to-female," yes? And what do you mean by "a lot"?

You said it, I'm not assuming anything about what you think, you said it.

And trying to shame someone into not being themselves because they have children is ridiculous, especially because this is something that will most likely improve their ability to parent.

Re: Transgender Navy SEAL 'Warrior Princess' Comes Out[W:181]

Color me more than a little skeptical that there are "a lot." Transgender issues are rare, not common. Granted that certain professions might attract a particular type of person, I still can't see there being "a lot."

Then I doubt I would be responding to this thread.

More people than you would imagine.

I'd definitely not deal with that situation well, but I would probably conclude more along the lines that 20 years in the SEALS really messed him up psychologically. I'd be curious as to how many trans-whatever people are really just gays who cannot accept they are just gay and look at this as a way to comport morality with reality.

Re: Transgender Navy SEAL 'Warrior Princess' Comes Out[W:181]

"An estimated 2 to 5 % of the population is transgender (1.e. experience some degree of gender dysphoria). The number of people who identify as transsexual and undergo sex-reassignment is smaller." http://www.transgenderlaw.org/resources/transfactsheet.pdf

A lot of homosexuals have children though, its all part of the trying to be "normal" for society game they were coerced into playing. Though this has changed quite a bit for the better in the last few decades.
