Nelson Mandela admitted to hospital in 'serious condition' [W:47:W:117]

Any time a country has to destroy it's nuclear weapons because there's a change of government coming, it's a dead giveaway.
So because they got rid of the nuclear weapons make it a "failed socialist state"? Please.. Explain... You do realize that socialism is an economic policy?

When a government can't protect it's people and crime is rampant and the upper and middle class have to arm themselves, dead giveaway.
How does crime rates make a country "socialist"? Is mexico socialist then i mean they have a **** ton of crime?

When a government is as corrupt as Mexico, dead giveaway.
So if your government is corrupt you are socialist?

When the U.S. State Department has to keep issuing wide-ranging Travel Alerts for South Africa, dead giveaway.
So if your country is a turmoil your socialist?
:doh

Or how bout this. Maybe South Africa was gong through a transition period from colonialism to trying to insecure a system where apartheid has ended, and like most countries that end a colonial/imperialist system that there will be some instability... Ever think of that logical conclusion?

OK - a claim that South Africa has been destroyed financially or otherwise needs to be backed up.

Quote me, otherwise I never said South Africa "has been destroyed financially." Your putting words in my mouth and I don't like that.

Side track:
Seems South Africa's economy is doing better than America's economy under Obama. Not surprising.

I'm using my definition of "failed socialist state." Not Roper Centers definition because they don't distinguish what kind of government is in power and most people tend to disagree with Roper Center rankings. Even South Africa disputed their findings. I even dispute their ranking of America.

I'm not going to knock Mandela for how things ended up in SA to date. He wanted better than this for SA. His end of days is likely very close. May he RIP.

Its a shame that greedy and selfish individuals took advantage of the post-Apartheid environment to enrich themselves rather than helping the people at large. But anyone who thinks this was a uniquely black African thing to happen is a racist.

SA could have ended up a more stable, safe, and healthy nation if the right people made the right choices.

Praying for your recovery Madiba but preparing for the worst. Whenever your time comes, i can only hope it will be comfortable, painless and peaceful.

I did say "or otherwise" which left you room to explain otherwise how South Africa has been destroyed.

Anytime would be great.

I'm using my definition of "failed socialist state." --

LOL

i don't have to explain any thing to you. I have my own experiences and my own opinions. Been there and done that and I ain't talking about Africa.

BTW: I never used the word "destroyed."

As I suggested, do your own damn research. I also suggested going to a South African forum and reading the post and maybe joining the forum and ask your own questions. They use to be a British colony and many speak English.

I went ahead and found a SA forum for you to snoop around in.

I'll post the beginning of one thread and a link and you can take it from there. Your going to notice many different opinions. Enjoy.

Moving to South Africa: Good or bad? Why we will never agree

>" Since I have been a member of this forum, most heated debates were between those who have left South Africa (or wanting to) and those who made it their new home, and somewhere in between those who cannot emigrate and have no other option than to stay in denial and hope for the best.

In another thread I made the following statement: "But remember that however much you may research and deep into the issue (whether it is a good or bad idea to immigrate to South Africa), if you haven't lived here for 15 plus years you wouldn't understand the rapid decay in all spheres of life and society over and above the 'normal world wide deterioration' which will reduce South Africa to another Zimbabwean banana republic in years to come." ... @ Jetboogieman,

Since you state that you are from South Africa you I think are at best position to provide us insight about what is going on with the issue of racism there? Would you like to share?

To stay on topic we could start with a:

Did Mandela mitigate racism there?

Is racism growing?

What will happen with racism after Mandela?

Thanks

I'll accept that - I quoted you and another poster who agreed the sentiments of your posts which was why I quoted you.

Thanks but I already have a broad range of contacts including family in South Africa which is why I disagree the sentiment of your and the other poster's comments.

Mandala has had a long life, he's accomplished much. I will let the politics stay within the borders of South Africa. We have our own political problems here for me to concern myself with.

If Mandala doesn't leave the hospital this time, RIP.

I believe that Mandela overwhelmingly tried to mitigate racism. So did MLK. Both are to be heralded. Both were eclipsed by racists of their own color, and politicians who are better empowered by a world with racism, rather than one without.

Ronald Reagan looked upon Mandela as being something like a scumbag but said in his diary he couldn't explain why, he just didn't like him.

It's just natural not to like socialist be they communist or #####. oops, I almost violated a mid-thread warning.

Note: It's really diffrent now knowing what a [W:##] is.

i am giving this a like, becuase i laughed, when i read it....thanks.

i dont like him either , he begged from the u.s. and then complained about us in the same breath.

Grandson Says Mandela's Health Improving
Former South Africa President Nelson Mandela's health has improved, his grandson said Saturday as the 94-year-old spent his eighth day in the hospital recovering from a lung infection.

Mandla Mandela said that when he left his grandfather in Pretoria, before heading to Qunu for a family memorial, "we saw the improvement in his health."

"The old man is not only ours, but he is for the people of South Africa, Africa, and the whole world," he said at the funeral of elderly cousin, Florence Nondlela Mandela, in Mandela's home village in South Africa's Eastern Cape. "We would like to say, even tomorrow, these prayers are the ones that will make him strong, so that he can feel better and rise from that hospital bed."

:2razz: Yayyy!! I hope Mandela recovers! he is a great man and a great symbol for this world, he is someone who not only South Africa, but the world should look up to!

If you want to get some perspective on what a violent, communist overthrow is really like, Zimbabwe is a far better example than South Africa. Mandela could have easily made himself dictator and then launched racist land policy against whites, like Mugabe. But he didn't.

I think the world will feel a little chillier when he leaves us.

He's a avowed communist.

Good riddance. His children will inherit his wealth as he preaches for a classless society.

He's a avowed communist.
Proof?
Oh wait you have none.
Simply allying yourself with communists at one time does not make you a communist. Hell if that is true then we are communist as well since we allied ourselves with "communists" during WW2.

I think the world will feel a little chillier when he leaves us.

I wonder if he will feel chillier when he leaves us?

The man is dying, people. His condition is critical and deteriorating.

Please, show some respect and class and stop the "he was a commie, no he wasn't" stuff. Mandela is a great man, who suffered much for his people and is much beloved by them. That alone should entitle him to be treated with dignity at the end of his life.

One guy claimed he was! Wow thats all the proof i need

If he was a "senior leader" were is the party card? The membership? If he was a leader of a member wouldnt there be more proof than just "wow this one guy said he is!"?

Plus i really dont care if he was a commi or not. He was a great leader, red or not red.

Oh that and 40 years of rumors substantiated by not just one, many.

I just posted one.

Communism is responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of people, torture, the dignity and basic humans rights of countless of human beings that died nameless, without so much as a prayer said, and you want people to hold this guy up on a pedestal.

Sorry, Nelson Mandela didn't have to experience this hell of his ideology applied, he will die a rich man celebrated with memorials.

It's just plain wrong.
