U.S. intelligence mining data from nine U.S. Internet companies

Documents: U.S. intelligence mining data from nine U.S. Internet companies in broad secret program

"The National Security Agency and the FBI are tapping directly into the central servers of nine leading U.S. Internet companies, extracting audio, video, photographs, e-mails, documents and connection logs that enable analysts to track a personís movements and contacts over time.

The highly classified program, code-named PRISM, has not been disclosed publicly before. Its establishment in 2007 and six years of exponential growth took place beneath the surface of a roiling debate over the boundaries of surveillance and privacy. Even late last year, when critics of the foreign intelligence statute argued for changes, the only members of Congress who knew about PRISM were bound by oaths of office to hold their tongues."

    This just keeps getting better.

They are discussing this on CNN right now.

Don't you love the current course of government. Keeping us nice and safe. You better like it, else you're gonna be on a list too.

Exactly. Everyone let fear dominate their rationality and excused gross expansion of government. This is the natural conclusion of that gross expansion. Duh!

Pretty sure the DP data they mine will set off their virus detectors and quite possibly crash the entire works when they try to make sense of it

This, from the guy who promised transparency... accountability... change...

Was he blowing smoke the whole time? Or did he do a 180 after he learned what we're really up against?

Perhaps we'll find out in 2056.

It's a bit frustrating when you realize that simply knowing history doesn't mean you won't repeat it.
