No, he was a Christian who converted to Islam.

Not many meat cleaver attacks in places where handguns are easy to come by, though. "Bring a knife to a gunfight" is just a punchline to a bad joke, not something that happens much.

Looks like this is widely being treated as a terrorist attack.
I wonder what Obama would have called this if it happened in America ?

Wait a minute, it already did happen at Fort Hood. Obama called it "violence in the work place."

Who wants to turn a blind eye?

The extremist is an asshole looking for a cause to land on. Perhaps when that vast majority of Muslims and all the rest of the world reaches a point where they are all committed to targeting and eliminating the extremists people will stop seeing it as an option or will at least go back to hiding in their caves. The asshole in question did it on the streets of England. Think about WHAT he did for a second and you will get a feel for who exactly you are dealing with. Sawing a mans head off with a machete is not a quick clean process. You have to be actively engaged in that work. That should speak volumes as to who you are dealing with. And before we rush to 'understand' their upset over British and American tropps in the ME, lets not forget these are the same people that wrap primer chord around the heads of school children, that rape and behead entire families in India, that hang and burn gay youths in Iran, that slaughter 12 young ...
For ****'s sake, Vance, as I have said before... we have radical regulars here at DP, let alone at least one who's a regular on Fox News. Think Michelle Malkin fits the extremist profile?

Get the picture? The excuse of US and British presence in the ME is just this weeks excuse and nothing more.
Right. But in the eyes of the Iraqi father who lost a daughter and/or son and/or wife to American bombs, you think he'd feel all warm and fuzzy towards America?

Some guy was beheaded, this is a disgusting murder but why does it need to turn into an attack on Islam? Yes, there is extremism in Islam and some extremist groups exist that have a number of adherents who believe in killing others and this does need to be addressed. However, let's address the extremist groups and not make a broad judgement call against the entire religion and those who practice it.

I also like how these typically devolve into a "well Christians are bad" and "A Christian did this and it's worse" or "the Christian faith is..." Has anyone brought up the Crusades yet or cherry picked things from the OT? Seriously, why can't issues be discussed without the topic of discussion turning into a compare and contrast between 2 different religions or broad judgements against everyone in a religion.

is there such an elite group in this world ?

Well, when a guy is citing religous ideals and views to justify his crime, it seems only natural that one would identify religion as a motivating factor. It's like if this guy was a nazi and started shouting pro-nazi slogans, I am sure you would have no issue drawing a connection to that failed ideology. hell, I am almost sure you would do the same if we were discussing a christian.

But just because you perceive the guy as a minority, and islam as a hapless victim of the west, you want to ignore it as a motivating factor here. You're almost as bad as the ****s who identify this guy with all muslims

She fits the asshole profile. Is she advocating for the slaughter of random individuals in the glorious cause of something? If not, then no...it isnt remotely the same thing. Michelle Malkin is no different than the abundance of people on this site that will take any incident and tragedy and turn it into an attack on the Dems or Republicans or George Bush or Obama. Tornado...Oh look...its Bush's fault and global warming. Tornado...oh look...Obama caused it to take the emphasis off the scandals.

Point...the people in question here are not reasonable. They arent anyones friends. They excuse and justify their brutality but thats all it is...an excuse to be brutal. They slaughter children and blame it on Christians. They slaughter rape victims. They are extremist fundamentalists. This thread is the perfect example of why they win. The incident that occurred was raised. The ONLY proper response would have been for every single person that responded to this thread to have immediately condemned and called for the immediate trial and execution of those demented ****s, no questions, no excuse or quarter given. Instead you have people blaming any and every one but the individuals, trying to correlate their actions and behaviors to others, etc etc etc. If society cant get united against ****heads like the ones that committed this crime and take a hardline stance against this...then it will simply continue. Yesterday...some secluded room in Yemen and a journalist or contractor truck driver. Today...London. Tomorrow?
