I'm a pre-med student. I am by no means against "fancy city book learning" if that is what you are trying to imply. My life at this point is nothing but fancy book learning. I've taken liberal arts courses. I read their fancy books, and find my self disgusted by how utterly ideological their ideas are. They usually then try to back it up with data, and I find myself further disgusted by how easily I tear apart those arguments, finding flaws in either their data, or their conclusions. I'm by no means hard right, or anti intellectual, and I do have some more liberal viewpoints on certain issues. But what I've seen is academia turn into the handmaiden for left wing politics and radical indoctrination.
I love the NSA. It's like having a secret fan-base you will never see, but they're there, watching everything you write and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that I may be some person's only form of unconstitutional entertainment one night.
You're pretty much just giving your opinion here. Which is fine, if that is what gets you up in the morning to go for a run, then go for it. But if all you do is run 24/7, well, you aren't going to be good at anything athletically but running. Its pretty much the exact same thing as the "meathead" that you so despise.
I don't despise meatheads. I just think that very often the more muscles they put on, the more they tend to look down on those without the same meaty goals as themselves. You don't often see cardio freaks being condescending about running a marathon but you could hang out with meat-heads and hear endless talk of "pencil-necks" and how they could beat up someone blah blah blah. Where their world vision is based on who they are and are not bigger than. And that instant respect goes towards those who can push X amount of weight... (which just so happens to be pretty much the whole gist of the originiation of this thread).Originally Posted by ReformCollege
So if it sounds like I'm being condescending the other way around... I guess turn-about is fair play.
I think those who think they are physically stronger because of their political swing need to post pictures of their biceps. The proof is in the picture.
