They do that because when doing a hump... the pace is set by the longer strides and the tall guys don't have to half-step and trip behind the shorter strides of those in front of them.

I've heard claims as to why the average is small in the USMC like those joining often have a napolean complex. I don't know. Just googled it.
Probably has more to do with power-to-weight ratio. I'm a pretty big guy, 6'6" and change- I was an ironworker for 30 years and a connecter for 15 of them and the average connecter is a smaller guy, definitely shorter than average, I'd say. It's easier to haul yourself and your rigging belt up a column if you're 5'10" and 175 than when you're 6'6" and 230.

Of course you can weight train as part of your health plan but those that don't do cardio are not the image of health they think themselves to be. Not even close.

I haven't run in a while but with any of these self-aggrandizing beef-necks out there... please try to keep up with me on a 10k without fading out around mile 2 in a wheezing fit of meaty sadness. My point being, what's the point of building muscle if your muscles can't make your body do anything extraordinary other than pushing weights?

And for those of you walking around sizing up the world by whose ass you think you can kick... the average height of a Marine is 5'7". Please, by all means, go to a bar in Jacksonville, NC just outside of Camp Lejune and tell them that because of their average size they are physically inferior. Have fun.
You're making a severe oversight by assuming that it is a dichotomy between the two. For example, how do you explain decathalon athletes, some of whom have been shown to have bench press 1RM of over 400 pounds, and still run 4 minute miles?

Even if you did get into Oxford, he probably got into some school on Mars. You know, because no matter what he is automatically smarter then you just because he is a liberal.

Interesting theory. Inherently embraces some pretty sweeping generalizations, so there are going to be lots of exceptions. Especially among libertarians, who don't fit your bill of what it means to be a conservative all too well.

While this my be true for people who use machines or bodybuilders - powerlifters, Olympic weightlifters and people who train like them have far more strength than anyone else on the planet.

I think that is true for many if not most heavy labor jobs. I'd like to have seen any of these beef-necks who focus on muscle mass primarily try to keep up with me when I was 14 years old, just over 100 lbs and was cropping in a tobacco field for summer work.

But could never keep up with an Ethiopian.

Like I said, weight training as an assist, but if it is your primary or only training... you are not as healthy as you think.
