Report: IRS denied tax-exempt status to pro-lifers on behalf of Planned Parenthood

If this is true, it looks like the IRS was in fact doing Obama and the democrats bidding.

Report: IRS denied tax-exempt status to pro-lifers on behalf of Planned Parenthood

    May 15, 2013 | 2:40 pm | Modified: May 16, 2013 at 9:35 am

IRS officials refused to grant tax exempt status to two pro-life organizations because of their position on the abortion issue, according to a non-profit law firm, which said that one group was pressured not to protest a pro-choice organization that endorsed President Obama during the last election.

“In one case, the IRS withheld approval of an application for tax exempt status for Coalition for Life of Iowa. In a phone call to Coalition for Life of Iowa leaders on June 6, 2009, the IRS agent ‘Ms. Richards’ told the group to send a letter to the IRS with the entire board’s signatures stating that, under perjury of the law, they do not picket/protest or organize groups to picket or protest outside of Planned Parenthood,” the Thomas More Society announced today. “Once the IRS received this letter, their application would be approved.”

This post is a lie. Planned Parenthood can support whoever they want. It doesn't mean they're doing the bidding of the president.

No question the IRS has left wing activists in positions of power to do these sleazy things. The question is are they doing it themselves or are they being guided by the administration's campaign spinsters. If the latter, Obama should step down as President or be impeached imo. We know their campaign team will spin ie lie because of what they did in the campaign. For example in the debate when Romney was highlighting his excellent record with having women in positions of power in his administration as Governor of Massachusetts, the Obama campaign team dishonestly spun his words to try and create the impression that it was anti-women knowing a lot of uninformed people would buy it. Just a game, retaining power at all costs. GOP is just as bad, the American people should not put up with it. So if they will do such obvious spinning ie lying during the campaign, why should we be shocked if they did not use their campaign team to spin ie lie in Benghazi and IRS scandals. Whether it is just activists doing it on their own or beng led by the administration's campaign team, hopefully the truth will come out and there will be accountability.

I read the Examiner's 'news" story - they do need an editor, that is one of the worst written articles I've read other than on some personal blogs.

Tell us Grim17, what would be the legal justification for blocking tax-exempt status for a 501c-4 organisation?

A media outlet with much better editors and superior writers notes that it wasn't only Tea Party and "pro-life" (I prefer anti-abortion) groups that were targeted by the IRS
IRS Sent Same Letter to Democrats That Fed Tea Party Row

The Internal Revenue Service, under pressure after admitting it targeted anti-tax Tea Party groups for scrutiny in recent years, also had its eye on at least three Democratic-leaning organizations seeking nonprofit status.

One of those groups, Emerge America, saw its tax-exempt status denied, forcing it to disclose its donors and pay some taxes. None of the Republican groups have said their applications were rejected.

Progress Texas, another of the organizations, faced the same lines of questioning as the Tea Party groups from the same IRS office that issued letters to the Republican-friendly applicants. A third group, Clean Elections Texas, which supports public funding of campaigns, also received IRS inquiries.
“And I have no doubt that every new example will succeed, as every past one has done, in shewing that religion & Govt will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together.”

I said they were doing there bidding, but I didn't say that it was at the request of anyone in the administration.

Is that why under Bush the IRS harrassed Greenpeace and the NAACP, and the GOP Congress prevented an investigation?

I say the Democratic Senate should open one up. That's how to play hardball with the baggers.

Re: Report: IRS denied tax-exempt status to pro-lifers on behalf of Planned Parenthoo

Not everybody sees all this as a "game."

There is already enough evidence of wrongdoing that a special prosecutor should be appointed to investigate the IRS and its practices, and because this agency will "supervise" 17 new laws under "Obamacare" beginning in only months, this is urgent.

And I don't give a rat's ass who the President happens to be or where the chips may fall. Let them all fall.
