Acting IRS commissioner resigns in wake of agency scandal

Where did I read recently that it has been shown that only liberals are able to hold two diametrically opposing thoughts simultaneously, and depending on which Party is being discussed at the moment is the determining factor in which thought is expressed? The old "it's okay when we do it" syndrome. I will have to find that article. It sure cleared things up for me!
I may be recovering. I'm thinking it was something by Jonah Goldberg.

Normally I ignore those incapable of thoughtful dialog. You're certainly going to be up near the top.

Why are you putting out BS from the liberal/progressive Jerry Brown, rather than actual facts? You're posting a proposed budget, and trying to sell it as fact?

Here are some facts you appear proud to be ignorant about.

California Pension Liabilities Raise Debt Uncertainty

The report examined multiple sectors of government spending, including the ‘wall of debt’ (coined by Governor Jerry Brown), unemployment insurance, and various obligation and revenue bonds. When these factors are added up, the state government’s debt is an estimated $132.6 billion.

Additional analysis shows California’s K-12 public schools hold about $49.7 billion in bond debt, city governments hold $68.1 billion, and county governments hold $22.1 billion. When taken together along with California’s other state and local government entities, debts reached over $850 billion. Following additional adjustments, which accounted for more conservative growth, outstanding debt reached into the trillions.

The culprit cited by CPPC is the state’s ballooning pension liabilities. The key lynchpin here being the estimated investment return rate. Historically, an average annual return of 7.5 percent would be considered appropriate, yet a much more conservative rate of 5.5 percent or lower is considered by CPPC to be much more accurate.

Now, do you plan to comment on the various bankrupt cities that were cited in the links I provided, or do you plan add to the mountain of foolishness you've been posting?

Excellent post!

Their primary cause is providing health care.

You mean mamograms ? How benign and innocuos.

Bless their little helpful hearts.

When did Health Care and the murdering of the most innocent and helpless become synonymous ?

Oh, nevermind, I know when.

I may be recovering. I'm thinking it was something by Jonah Goldberg.

I just looked him up and I believe you're right! I may have to buy his book!

David Oshinsky of the New York Times, in reviewing the book, writes "Liberal Fascism is less an expose of Left Wing hypocrisy than a chance to exact political revenge."

He has apparently pegged it! At least he's rational in his explanation of what apparently motivates the Left Wing fringe!

I'm glad he resigned. He should have never apologized to the tea party types. Instead he should have called for investigation of Bush-era use of the IRS against progressive groups and named names.

BFD, he resigned three weeks before the new permanent Commissioner was scheduled to take over that position.

No, that's the main org, Planned Parenthood itself. PPAF is the political action arm and is also tax exempt.

Lobbying for their cause IS their primary purpose. That's political activity.
Just to satisfy my inner geek. Planned Parenthood has two branches. The Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF). When we talk about Planned Parenthood we're talking about PPFA.

PPFA is a 501(c)(3) organization. That means that not only are they tax exempt, but donations to PPFA are also tax exempt. PPFA is not allowed to engage in any significant politicking. PPAF is also a non-profit, but it is a non-profit 527 PAC. That means that it is allowed to engage in as much politicking as it likes, but it has to publicly post its donors.

Neither branch is a 501(c)(4) which sits somewhere in between a 527 and a 501(c)(3).

It is a point to ponder.

I do not doubt there was targeting of conservative groups. My feelings on this though are there is nothing wrong with targeting groups who are trying to file against the rules. Let's just make sure we're getting all of them, not some of them.

I wait for the day where you respond to me with something relevant to the discussion. It hasn't happened yet, but I certainly believe you can do it if you just give it a chance.

Today, in his joint press conference with the Turkish Prime Minister, BHO was asked a question that gave him the opportunity to say that no one in the White House had known about IRS harassment of conservatives. BHO studiously avoided doing that. This is the gift that keeps on giving.

Of all the scandals erupting now, this one is truly bipartisan in its nature...few in either party are fond of the IRS! :afraid:

Good evening, Jack. :2wave:

obama had a press conference this morning in the rain with turkish pm recep talk-about-your-war-on-women erdogan in the rose garden

U.S.-Turkey Relations - C-SPAN Video Library

asked twice, this most corrupt potus since nixon was all too publicly UNABLE to say that he personally did not know about his irs' blatantly CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR which has been going on coast to coast for 2 years

Bloomberg TV: “Can you assure the American people that nobody in the White House knew about the agency’s actions before your counsel’s office found out on April 22nd?”

President Obama’s response: “I can assure you that I certainly did not know anything about the Inspector General report before the IG report had been leaked to the press.”

later, he added: "in terms of the white house and reporting, i think that, you know, you've gotten that information from mr carney and others... you know, i, i promise you this---the minute I [emphasis his] found out about it then my main focus is making sure that we get the thing fixed"

Comic Sans overload... Arial or Helvetica is better for reading.

Conservative groups are not under attack. As far as I know, those with overtly political names were given extra scrutiny when applying for tax exemptions.

Then you must live in a bubble..

As far as I know

y'ever heard of usa today?

yesterday?

In the 27 months that the Internal Revenue Service put a hold on all Tea Party applications for non-profit status, it approved applications from similar liberal groups, a USA TODAY review of IRS data shows.

As applications from conservative groups sat in limbo, groups with obviously liberal names were approved in as little as nine months. With names including words like "Progress" or "Progressive," these groups applied for the same tax status and were engaged in the same kinds of activities as the conservative groups.

IRS gave liberals a pass; Tea Party groups put on hold

it is astonishing how uninformed are you who talk so much

Can anyone conceive of a Republican President involved in so many scandals? Oh, yes there was one about 40 years ago. The Democrats were prepared to Impeach the guy and lynch him from a White House Oak tree. He resigned, even though no one died. Today our President has yet to answer for the following. Two Americans dead in Fast & Furious, Billions of dollars lost in Solyndra and other green failures, then there's Benghazi and 4 dead Americans, IRS, and the AP wiretaps. All Nixon did was to try and cover up the Watergate break in. Where's the next Daniel Ellsberg and John Dean brave enough to expose this guy?

The question I ask myself is, would the Liberals be defending the IRS, if something
like this had come out when Bush was President?
