White House in damage control mode as potential scandals pile up [W:378]

So you don't think that there was enough emergency money available in a 3.77 trillion dollar budget to fund Hurricane Sandy relief? 60 billion dollars is petty cash for the govt.
Pay attention that wasn't my point, my point was that Bush wasn't made to pay for the relief like Obama did.

Are you an American? What bothers me is the very real probability they (the CIA) lied and are still lying to us, Americans, to cover the POTUS and his proto-POTUS, the SOS. That doesn't bother you?

Now, tell me a comforting fairytale about how the CIA never, ever does such a thing.

The CIA lying? what else is new?

An attack during election season, especially in light of orders to stand down and the lightly armored state of the embassy considering the recent events there, don't speak well for the re-election chances of the POTUS. Best to blame it on a video and broilerplate muslim violence.

this might sting if you believe the conspiracy theories.

Senior GOP aides pointed out that many of the accusations involving security and military forces turned out to be unfounded. One recent example involved a supposed whistle-blower who reported that an armed Predator drone was operating in the area, but was not called upon to respond to the Benghazi attack, an assertion labeled erroneous by Pentagon officials and Hill staffers.

“There are some real issues there and then there is just some crazy stuff,” the senior House GOP aide said. “The crazy stuff is, you know, the airman in Ramstein [Air Base, Germany,] that knew that the Predator [drone] was armed. There are no armed Predators in the region there. The [status of forces agreement] does not allow us to fly them armed, and everybody knows it.”

GOP aides described another criticism aired at a recent House Oversight Committee hearing that there were four security officers at the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli who were ordered to remain in the capital for several hours after the first reports of an attack, rather than being scrambled to assist the consulate in Benghazi.

“The stand-down order was for four guys,” the GOP aide said. “When you step back and say how were the people killed at the annex, they were killed by an indirect fire mortar round. Four more M-4s [rifles] inside the annex doesn’t change that outcome. In fact, they might have just created more casualties. We have got to get down to what really happened on the DoD side and for us the DoD side was not properly postured, why?”

Further, there has been some criticism of U.S. military officials in Europe overseeing Africa Command who may not have reacted directly to the attacks. But they are not permitted to launch offensive operations across borders without civilian authorization.

and here is the article it came from.

You are so right, protesters always go to spontaneous rallies with rocket propelled grenades and heavy arms. You want to believe that Rice and the CIA didn't lie to you, so be it, nothing it seems is going to ever change your mind about the competence of this President and his Administration. He was too busy fund raising to take an active role but that is apparently ok for liberals never take responsibility for any failures.

There are no facts to support that any wrong doing was to blame for the deaths in Benghazi. That is always your excuse for the failed invasion of Iraq which Bush still has not taken responsibility for. How can you let over 4000 Americans die happily because of false intelligence and expect us to believe you crocodile tears for the ambassador and 3 others? It is hypocrisy at its lowest I'm afraid.

You seem to be really confused, Bush has been out of office since January 21, 2009 but did have bipartisan support for Iraq. Where was the support to save our Ambassador. Wars are hell but the fact remains liberal Obama apologists can only divert to Bush when challenged about what is going on right now.

then let us hear the gop aides say how weird this benghazi witchhunt has become

House Defense Bill Aims to Implement Lessons From Benghazi Attack : Roll Call Policy

Absolutely, I find it quite rewarding to spend my own money the way I see fit so taxpayers don't have to fund a bureaucrat to do it for me. If you need money so badly give me your address and I will send you a check directly vs giving it to a bureaucrat to take administrative fees and then send you only part of what you want or need.

I hope you are ready for your IRS audit.
You just incriminated yourself

House Defense Bill Aims to Implement Lessons From Benghazi Attack : Roll Call Policy

Interesting, and thanks for posting the info. Actually goes to my point, with all the now obvious lies told us by State and the admin about the event, how do we separate the wheat from the chaff. The lies from the truth, or even the lies from more lies. The waters were muddied for a purpose. Maybe to give cover for CIA continuing OPs, maybe to take the heat off a POTUS during re-election, maybe both or none.

We may never know for sure. Might have been different had the WH simply said, "We have all our forces investigating right now and pursuing any suspects. That's all we can tell you, but I promise to come forward with details as they are safe to be made public."

Taking the 5th never looks good, does it.

Lots of people on the right (Like the guy that started this thread.) are praying for something that's not going to happen.

President Obama's approval rating has not moved and the GOP's rating is still in the toilet.

"Better days are coming." ~ But not for today's out of touch, running out of time GOP.

People who post on sites like this, are political junkies. They pay attention, most people do not unless something effects them personally. I think Benghazi isn't playing with the independents, too long ago and they do not understand what each side is trying to prove. I do not think the AP story will last long with them either, reporters, so what, who cares. They may even be on the side of national security on this one. Now the IRS scandal has a chance, probably a good chance of hitting home with them. Just because no one likes the IRS. The IRS is the number one boggie man out there. Feared and loathed.

On the other hand, the Republicans aren't in that bad of shape either. According to RCP in the generic congressional vote or would you rather have a Republican or democrat represent you in congress. Democrats lead 42% to 40%. With a plus or minus of 3 points you could call it even. In the Senate, as of today the odds are on the Republicans picking up West Virginia and South Dakota from the Democrats with 4 other Democratic seats rated as toss ups. No Republican seat is in danger as of today. But with the election over a year off, these do not mean much, but it gives you an idea of where things stand today, but not November of 2014.

I believe any poll taken regarding Congress is irrelevant as Congressional elections are at the state level and not the national level. Right now there are 30 GOP Governors and economically most of the GOP states are in much better shape that the big Democrat states. Wonder how long it will take for those liberal states to realize conservative principles work.

If the GOP doesn't fix the many things that caused it to lose last November it will continue to lose.

Don't think so?

Wait and see.

That is true, state by state, district by district and with gerrymandering, the nation generic Congressional poll would seem sort of idiotic. But history has proven beyond certain numbers in that poll they are a fairly accurate measurement as to what party picks up what. People like Larry Sabato, Charlie Cook, RCP, and others do go district by district. Their latest prediction, which as I stated this far our are meaningless shows either party gaining a plus or minus of 3 seats. Looking at the generic poll, it shows basically a dead heat also. The generic congressional poll is just a tool to be used, but it is an important one. The poll is very useful in predicting sea changes in congress along with basically the status quo. In 1994 it predicted the GOP winning back the House for the first time since Eisenhower. In 2006, it indicated the Democrats would return and they did. In 2010, the poll shifted once more to the Republicans and they picked upped an amazing 63 seats. Use it as a tool it is and do not scoff at it, those who do usually get caught with their pants down.

The polls that go district by district are much better indicators as to what is going to happen but there are few of those at this juncture but watch others here touting Congressional Approval ratings which are meaningless. There isn't a poll that I saw in 2010 that predicted the massive GOP Congressional and state house wins. The way things are going now 2014 could be even worse for the Democrats but you are right, very early. I believe the scandals and Obama's incompetence is catching up with him

In the generic congressional poll it had the Republicans leading by 7 points. That means it would be a sea change election which is exactly what happened. I agree on the congressional approval poll, it is meaningless. Everyone likes their own congressman, but hate the other 434. You will never find any of the professional prognosticators pay the congressional approval poll a lick of sense. It means nothing.

A more accurate reflection of what is going to happen is also the party affiliation/identify poll. This is more useful in a national election, but does hold some weight in the mid terms too.

How anonymous do you think you really are here...
Just think back to some of the information you gave when you signed up for this forum...

Nonsense. Conservatives give their money to churches, who then "take administrative fees and then send you only part of what you want or need."

There's no difference between a tax and a tithe except taxes go to secular versus religious institutions. In fact, tax is better because at least the secular institution is for a broader scope of people and the leadership is elected and held accountable. The religious one...not so much.

Tithes are voluntary, church attendance is voluntary whereas taxes are enforced by people with guns .... the rest of your argument falls apart from there.

Avoiding a scandal, what scandal? What difference did it make whether the attack at Benghazi was planned or not?

Hmmmm....Let's put it this way Pete....

"Avoiding a scandal, what scandal? What difference did it make whether President Bush got a PDB brief about AQ using airliners to attack America before 9/11/01 or not?"

Does that make it clear?
