White House in damage control mode as potential scandals pile up [W:378]

Won't have to worry about it, democrats are the minority party in the largest state in the union with a Republican Governor and excellent economics. You ought to check out economic results rather than showing how inexperienced you really are

President Obama isn't going anywhere and the only place the G-nO-P is going is down.

Online gambling is illegal in the USA.

:lamo Who said it had to be a monetary wager.....? I understand though not really a whole lot of confidence that a poster with an internet fake name, and lean would be honorable in such....Generally speaking.

If the GOP doesn't change course soon it will end up as a minor, regional, party.

Don't think so?

Wait and see.

Doubt it...In fact, the current path the administration is taking with scandal, and absolutely NOTHING accomplished in the first 100 days of the second term, have even democrats running away from him....This could make '10 look like a cake walk for you guys....

Enjoy the ride....

Get back with me in thirty years and tell me how the GOP is doing.

Nothing you would like more than the U.S. to be annexed by Greece? Your economy is in such great shape, isn't it?

Covering his ass for what? I believe that neither the administration nor the CIA wants the terrorist know what we know or don't know. Law enforcement agencies work this way as well

Covering his ass for lying about Benghazi to avoid scandal before the election. I don't believe one word coming from the CIA on this matter. Here you are, knowing they (the CIA) admitted to lying about the event, acknowledging that they will lie to suit their purposes, and yet you're so easily willing to believe them when they give you a story that covers your favored son.

Do you believe the Obama administration had the obligation to tell the world the exactly what the knew about the attack at Benghazi? Would President Bush do this, if he were president on Sept 11, 2012?

Actually, his father (Bush I) did, several times, what Obama should have done - he should have flat out told us that our forces were actively investigating the incident and no, not going to tell you what they are doing right now.

You know Shrub that will probably be impossible unless both you and j-mac are both sipping on what ever they drink up there watching the streets of heaven being guarded by U.S. Marines.

Filibuster, they can filibuster.

There is no filibuster in the House. Used to be almost a couple hundred years ago, but then they changed the House rules. It's the Senate where the filibuster lives.

My great-grandmother lived to 105.

I'm shooting for 100.

Obvious to whom it was a war America could not win?

In fact the United States could have won quite handily if it were not for the left wing in the country. Now Americans cannot win any war, as we have seen. against the most rag tag opponents in the world.

The first thing the left asks for is 'an exit strategy', not a winning strategy. This is the only time in history such an open request was ever made to a leadership contemplating war. 'When do we retreat?' is now on the mind of every leftist.

LOl You would have nuked them I suppose, that would have been the only way to "win", by wiping all of Vietnam off the map.
We got involved in a "Revolutionary war" in Vietnam only we were fighting on the side of the Tory's. It was wrong in so many ways.
Thanks to our "defeat", Vietnam is now a country that respects its neighbors, holds the line against the Chinese (who they hate) and is a valued trading partner with the U.S.
None of that would have happened if we "stuck it out" lost 1000's more of our young men and forced the Vietnamese to all speak French.

There was plenty of fed funding of services signed off by the President, even as the storm hit...

Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy partially activated the state's Emergency Operations Center on October 26[130] and signed a Declaration of Emergency the next day.[131] On October 28, President Obama approved Connecticut's request for an emergency declaration, and hundreds of National Guard personnel were deployed.[132] On October 29, Governor Malloy ordered road closures for all state highways.[133] Numerous mandatory and partial evacuations were issued in cities across Connecticut.[134]

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick ordered state offices to be closed October 29 and recommended schools and private businesses close. On October 28, President Obama issued a Pre-Landfall Emergency Declaration for Massachusetts. Several shelters were opened, and many schools were closed.[135] The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority shut down all services on the afternoon of October 29.[136] On October 28, Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin, New Hampshire Governor John Lynch, and Maine's Governor Paul LePage all declared states of emergency

Federal Relief Costs Likely to Be Big, and Contested
By ERIC LIPTON and JENNIFER STEINHAUER
WASHINGTON — The first trickle of federal funds has started to go out after Hurricane Sandy — $29 million to rebuild highways, $30 million to hire temporary workers to help with the cleanup. But lawmakers are just beginning to tally what is certain to be a multibillion-dollar bill for the federal government at a time of fiscal restraint.

At least initially, New York, New Jersey and other states most affected by the storm will be spared the traditional fights in Washington over disaster assistance, thanks to a little-noticed provision in last year’s budget agreement that arose from the debt-ceiling fight and resulted in Congress setting aside roughly $12 billion for disaster relief.

The Federal Emergency Management Office has $7.5 billion to spend this fiscal year, and an additional $5 billion could be made available with no spending offsets required in other government programs.

While that will help in the short term, the East Coast states hit by the giant storm will almost certainly request billions in additional federal dollars, which would require appropriations by Congress and could set off partisan — or geographic — wrangling and stir longstanding concerns about fraud and waste.

New York state officials have already started to apply pressure on the federal government to cover a greater share of the rebuilding cost than is provided under the law, seeking 100 percent reimbursement for major infrastructure projects compared with the 75 percent automatically provided in major disasters. State officials have also talked of an ambitious new sea wall system, with a possible price tag of at least $10 billion, that could protect New York from a future superstorm.

“Our counties are responding to the continued impacts of multibuilding fires, tunnel closures, power losses to hospitals and other critical infrastructure, destroyed homes and sheltered populations — all in the midst of historic flooding that has complicated emergency response operations exponentially,” Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo wrote to President Obama on Wednesday.

Lawmakers from New York and elsewhere, perhaps wary of any requests for new federal spending that could become political fodder, so far are playing down the need for additional money. But when pressed, they acknowledge that they could soon follow.

“I think there is a very good chance we are going to need more than that,” Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, said in an interview Thursday of FEMA’s disaster-relief reserves. “But the immediate needs are being taken care of without people looking over their shoulders.”

Fact:

It took President Obama 39 days to submit a $60.4 billion request to Congress for Sandy emergency relief.

It took President Bush 10 days to submit a $51.8 billion request to Congress for Hurricane Katrina emergency relief.

Spin all you want, those are the facts.

These are the facts today:

After Hurricane Sandy, Homeless Still Number In The Thousands In New York, New Jersey

And as usual, President Obama gets a free ride, while the Bush Deranged are still mentally obsessed.

Avoiding a scandal, what scandal? What difference did it make whether the attack at Benghazi was planned or not?

Are you a lawyer for Alqeada? They lied to deceive them and that bothers you? I hope you got a big retainer.

Didn't the Republicans insist to cut the budget in other areas to pay for the help? Did Bush get the same treatment?

Conservative principles?... Like tax evasion?

Absolutely, I find it quite rewarding to spend my own money the way I see fit so taxpayers don't have to fund a bureaucrat to do it for me. If you need money so badly give me your address and I will send you a check directly vs giving it to a bureaucrat to take administrative fees and then send you only part of what you want or need.

Didn't the Republicans insist to cut the budget in other areas to pay for the help? Did Bush get the same treatment?

So you don't think that there was enough emergency money available in a 3.77 trillion dollar budget to fund Hurricane Sandy relief? 60 billion dollars is petty cash for the govt.

Are you a lawyer for Alqeada? They lied to deceive them and that bothers you? I hope you got a big retainer.

Are you an American? What bothers me is the very real probability they (the CIA) lied and are still lying to us, Americans, to cover the POTUS and his proto-POTUS, the SOS. That doesn't bother you?

Now, tell me a comforting fairytale about how the CIA never, ever does such a thing.

Didn't the Republicans insist to cut the budget in other areas to pay for the help? Did Bush get the same treatment?

Didn't Obama take 39 days to submit a request, and Bush take only 10 days?

The rest of your attempted spin goes nowhere.

Avoiding a scandal, what scandal? What difference did it make whether the attack at Benghazi was planned or not?

An attack during election season, especially in light of orders to stand down and the lightly armored state of the embassy considering the recent events there, don't speak well for the re-election chances of the POTUS. Best to blame it on a video and broilerplate muslim violence.
