White House in damage control mode as potential scandals pile up [W:378]

And obviously you are going to believe what you want to believe so since the Obama poll numbers haven't suffered I am sure you will have no problem posting those poll numbers from reputable pollsters? How about those Gallup numbers? Wonder what it is about liberalism that creates this kind of loyalty?

Here ya go. Approval ratings virtually unchanged over the last several months. So are you asking yourself the question that you should? If there is any meat to the Benghazi so-called "Scandal" why isn't it resonating with the American people? I'll give you the answer. The American people are smarter than you give them credit for. They recognize it when Repubs are trying to spin bull **** into gold. LOL

So you think 47% is a good polling number for Obama? Why do liberals like you have such low standards and expectations?

Except Iran/Contra speaks otherwise. Reagan was certainly willing to compromise and negotiate with terrorists.

Iran-Contra, that's right. The left didn't want to stop Communist expansion in the world so they surrendered and refused to participate in the Cold War. When was that exactly, 1975 or 76 ?

The Boland Amendment, so some genius came up with a way to legally get around the Boland Amendment.

Lt. Col. Oliver North "burned" Iran and sold them obsolete Hawk SAM's and obsolete TOW's.:2rofll:

Lt. Col. North should have been awarded a medal for pulling off that stunt. The Navy Commendation Medal is a no brainer but do you think maybe he rated a higher award like the Meritorious Service Medal ?

So you think 47% is a good polling number for Obama? Why do liberals like you have such low standards and expectations?

Because they are Liberals?

Why else would they have voted for an Obama/Biden ticket?

We've also discovered that Biden is the smart one.

Just goes to show that Obamabots along with Hillarybots have no concept of reality. Watch those poll numbers closely as more information comes out

LOL....Fauxnews and the Repubs have tried 133 times....why do you think you are going to spin gold on the 134th?

Much better than the 22% that your hero left office with......LOL....in fact over 2X as good. But once again you are missing the point. The point being the numbers have been unchanged for weeks. Why is your "Benghazi" scandal not resonating with the American people? Answer: Its because the American people recognize this for what it is....a FauxNews created scandal and political gamesmanship by the wacko right-wing.

What does that have to do with a 47% JAR for Obama and declining? Did you notice the breakdown by group? Independents give Obama a 45% JAR. It really is a shame you are so blinded by a failed ideology

Keep diverting to Bush who wasn't on the ballot in November 2008. Wonder if Obama will make it to 2016? I guess the life of an Ambassador doesn't mean much to a liberal.

No diversion.....just once again pointing out your hypocrisy and selective memory. You can't bemoan a 47% approval rating while idolizing a man that had a 22%. Sorry if it makes you uncomfortable, but it bespeaks your credibility.

No, its more that the life of an ambassador doesn't have any more significance that any other life. Why are the lives of the 4 who died in Benghazi more important to you than the thousands who died in 911 and during Bush's wars?

Not blinded at all....why do you keep missing the point?

Not missing the point at all, Obama is incompetent and has no business in the office showing it with Benghazi, the IRS scandal, and the AP scandal along with many others. Told you he lacked leadership skills and executive experience but you voted for him anyway. Now this country is paying the price for millions of people who bought the rhetoric and ignored the resume.

You keep saying I idolized Bush so prove it? Results matter except in your world. It matters now what Bush's approval rating was when he left office for it is higher today than Obama's

Because Obama Administration turned their heads and didn't provide help for our Ambassador as he was too busy fund raising to keep his job vs doing his job. You ran from the quotes from Democrats prior to Bush even taking office regarding 9/11 and Iraq which just goes to show what a true partisan you are. This country is in quite a mess now thanks to people like you

You said that you voted for bush not once but twice didn't you?Want me to dig the thread up?

Conflicting information is emerging over the process the Justice Department used to approve the subpoenas for Associated Press telephone records in connection with a national security leak investigation.

As I noted in a story Wednesday, Justice's Director of Public Affairs is supposed to be consulted on all subpoenas to the media or for media-related phone records. In the past, that consultation has prompted the narrowing of subpoenas in some cases and their rejection in other cases, though the ultimate decision rests with more senior Justice Department officials.

The Daily Beast's Daniel Klaidman reported Thursday that the head of DOJ Public Affairs at the time the request for the AP's records came through, Tracy Schmaler, recused herself from the matter because she'd been interviewed by investigators. (FBI agents also interviewed Attorney General Eric Holder, which he said this week was part of his decision to recuse himself.)

"In her absence, the job fell to a less experienced deputy," Klaidman reports.

However, a Justice Department official told POLITICO Thursday that none of the current public affairs staff was aware of or asked to offer views on the AP-related subpoenas.

"No one here knew about this until Monday" when an AP reporter contacted the office for comment as the wire service prepared to go public with word of the subpoenas, said the official who asked not to be named. "On Monday, we were told it did come down here, but no action was taken and no recommendation was given."

The current acting director of DOJ's public affairs office is Nanda Chitre, a deputy White House press secretary under President Bill Clinton and a State Department public affairs staffer earlier in the Obama Administration. Chitre was one of the DOJ press office's deputies at the time the AP subpoena issue arose. However, she likely would have had to recuse as well since FBI investigators probing the leak also interviewed her.

The other deputy at the time was Gina Talamona, a veteran of the Justice Department's press shop.

Current Justice Department officials declined to discuss the matter on the record. Schmaler also declined to comment.

Matt Miller, who stepped down as DOJ spokesman in 2011, said this week that he likely would have recommended reining in the subpoenas at least to some degree.

"I think the subpoena is probably defensible,” he told the Daily Beast. “But had I reviewed [the subpoenas] I would have made recommendations about narrowing it somewhat....As someone who deals with reporters, it makes no sense looking for records from the House Gallery."

More mystery over AP subpoenas process at Justice Department - POLITICO.com

what politico's josh gerstein, following a lead first brought up by tina brown's liberal daily beast, is saying here is:

per doj rules, in order to get a subpoena to sweep ap records, the dept must first consult its director of public affairs

but the director at the time (may, 2012), one ms schmaler, had, for the same reason as her boss (she too was questioned about who was the leaker) recused herself

no one filled the void, the requirement to consult public affairs was, evidently, waived

the consultation, epstein points out, regularly and routinely results in a restriction of investigative reach contemplated by subpoena

absent this filter, you have doj run amok

the lawlessness in this white house is extensive---treasury, state, hhs, dhs...

he has turned the entire federal govt into one great big chicago

why can't holder say when he recused himself, why did the pompous practitioner of best practices fail to put his recusal in writing

Benghazi is a FauxNews created "scandal" that the American people are seeing right through. The IRS scandal.....I suppose you were just as outraged when the same was being done to left-wing groups under Bush....nope? really? I'm sooooo surprised. The reality is, it isn't much of a scandal. The only one that is seriously raising concern is the AP story. I am extremely disappointed that Obama has taken the same route GWB and has decided that its ok to engage in government over-reach without probable cause and a warrant. I expected that from Bush, not from Obama....but again....where was your outrage when Bush was ordered the wiretaps of innocent US citizens without a warrant, even after the fact? Oh....there wasn't an outrage from you? Wow.....why am I not surprised?

LOL......you've said so a million times here....and that Man is your AVATAR.....LOL....you make it so easy sometimes.

Those who have a man crush on Obama cannot help themselves. the great messiah has turned out to be the turd we said he was but his faithful cannot jettison their worship

Nope.....wrong again.

George W. Bush

After 7 years his approval rating has finally climbed up to the 47% that you think is so poor for Obama. And that coincided with the opening of his library when he was getting a lot of favorable press.

Lets see.....now I expect to see a reply from you saying how great the 47% is for GWB and how horrible a 47% is for Obama....because we all know that that's how you roll.....ROTFLMAO.....

Though the White House counsel’s office was informed of the IRS probe in late April, Obama has insisted that he only learned about the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups through media reports last Friday. But he wouldn’t say definitively that the White House was unaware of the targeting before then.

Obama pushes back on IRS, AP, Benghazi - Jennifer Epstein - POLITICO.com

this little paragraph, as you know, holds the potential to bring down this entire corrupt, chicago-fed white house with all its hubris, arrogance, diffidence, smugness, know-it-all aloofness, nastiness, narcissism...

steven miller (you don't know who that is, you're too busy posting) will testify in w&m tomorrow under oath, no fifth amendment

he appears beyond doubt, according to tigta (you don't know who that is, you're too busy already having figured it all out), that mr miller testified falsely and repeatedly to congress

what does mr miller know, what will mr miller say...

and what will the special prosecutor report whenever he or she is finally wound up

stay tuned...

for years
