EPA waives fee requests for friendly groups, denies conservative groups

Conservative groups seeking information from the Environmental Protection Agency have been routinely hindered by fees normally waived for media and watchdog groups, while fees for more than 90 percent of requests from green groups were waived, according to requests reviewed by the Competitive Enterprise Institute

So it wasn't just the IRS that was using Nixonian tactics to silence and intimidate political opposition

didn't Obama say we should not fear tyranny and dismiss the voices that do

Why should the IRS be the only ones following bamadoctrine.

And tyranny is accurate, but the first examples of left wing fascism is more like it.

This is beginning to look very bad for the president. He can't absolve himself from every federal agency acting on their own. IRS, EPA, what's next?

They didn't waive fees for a group that wasn't actually interested in the information being requested?

    You don't say.

No, seriously, of course CEI is going to have to pay the fees. They weren't requesting information to inform the public, they were requesting the information to check up on the EPAs FOIA processing.

The other groups? That's worthy of looking at. But remember it's not an arbitrary decision, there are specific criteria for waiving those fees. Conservative groups have targeted many environmental research groups with malicious and redundant FOIA requests. That sort of behavior isn't going to meet the fee-waiver criteria as often, wouldn't you say?
