it's hilarious seeing how partisan some of you people are. God only knows how you function in day to day life

Govt obtains wide AP phone records in probe

Alright, this getting downright scary. The IRS, the Feds, the cover-up of Benghazi......what in the hell is going on?
Yes, this administration is very scary.

Remember from the very start of it in '09, the white house had a site to snitch on people who talked bad about Obama...

Obarthyism...

Pretty much the same crap that went on under Bush... difference is that was your guy.
If that is the truth the only difference is your inability to whine like a stuck pig about it. Now. Pretty much a safe bet the only reason you are whining about Bush and the supposed "same thing" now (in 2013) is because you are not only stuck in the Bushverse but unable to bring yourself, at least publicly here at DP, NOW, to whine about it much less acknowledge it. Must mean you have a bias? Do tell how that is not so. This should be good. Like a novella.

Anyone got a link to George Bush wiretapping the media?

No, I am just pointing out that the very same people up in arms over this, were defending the warrentless wiretapping of American citizens and yes there most likely was a journalist or two in that large bunch of people being listened too. Bush even imprisoned journalists and out right murdered them in Iraq and Afghanistan... oh no wait they were non-Americans so that is okay right?

For a people who hate the government, it is always striking how the fake outrage only applies to a government run by the political opposition, but never when you are the one doing the illegal business.

And for the record... if true that they did this without a warrant and not through FISA.. then yes it is a scandal and heads should roll.

No.....but I got this just from the Deal with Attkisson from CBS.....

The biggest Benghazi-related story that took place outside of the House Oversight Committee's hearing room today is this item in Politico, regarding CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson. She's the reporter who famously drew White House officials' profane ire over her unapologetic pursuit of the Fast & Furious scandal story; now she's apparently facing searing criticism from another source: Her own bosses. Why? Because she's been covering the Benghazi story too aggressively. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you media bias:

[The media establishment and liberals] can’t stop conservative media from existing, but they can ghettoize it as illegitimate and “partisan” in a way that their own partisan garbage isn’t....Skepticism about Benghazi is fine for the wingnuts at Fox, but bringing such unhelpful nonsense into an “impartial,” i.e. pro-Obama, outlet like CBS risks lending credence to the GOP’s accusations. The proper line to take on Benghazi is to dismiss the new hearings with a sneer, a la Joe Klein, or, in the case of “impartial” news coverage, to dismiss them more lightly by referencing Hillary’s long-ago whining about a “vast right-wing conspiracy” to discredit the Clintons. “Going where the story leads” is unhelpful to liberalism in this case, ergo it’s advocacy by definition.

Attkisson's reporting makes Benghazi harder to pigeonhole as a right-wing conspiratorial obsession. CBS News owns a(n unjustified) platinum reputation in lefty media circles, rendering one of their correspondent's tireless work on an unhelpful subject doubly unhelpful. Thus, the suits are marginalizing her and questioning her integrity, accusing her of walking dangerously close to the activism line.....snip~

Also, the AP had Ron Fournier quit and go to the National Journal.

Blah blah blah! Turn this on to Bush and the republicans. Don't focus on how this is a potential major screw up by the Obama administration.

It doesn't matter if you were for it against wiretapping, Warrantless wiretapping was a major problem. Just like killing journalists regardless of their nationality is too. What YOU are saying is that it shouldn't be a big deal to us because "we supported it in the past." Are you kidding?

No I am not..it is fake outrage by most on the right.... that is what I am saying.

Listen either you are totally against targeting journalists regardless of nationality and against warrantless wiretapping or you are for it.. regardless who is in power. And in this case, many who are going after Obama and his administration for this and other stuff, were defending the Bush administration for similar or worse issues of abuse of power and to this day (even in this thread) deny that the Bush administration did not do similar illegalities, when it is very clear that they did.

Now, like I said... if someone in the Obama administration did this to the AP journalists and did it without a legal warrant, then heads should roll. But so far, all I have seen is more accusations by the same idiots running the "Bengahzi scandal" witch hunt, and their credibility is only slight above Hamas and Hizbollah.

Hmm double post.. strange

Anyone defending the indefensible is a partisan hack. I'm irrationally tempted to ignore all of them. Shame on you.

Here is what i do not get with republicans. It seems clear at this moment that republicans in congress are receptive to their party's input. Some have started to cave on the NRA because of background checks being widely liked. Some have started to weaken on immigration due to more hispanic sympathies being around. There has been caving on things like new taxes, gay marriage, abortion and BC issues, and over all the republicans have shifted thier ciews against the present administration in every way. Not to mention the reps have had absolutely no problem in going after things like Obamacare, gun control legislation, drone use, and putting forth other bills. Where the hell is the proposal to get rid of the patriot act, and where the hell are the proposals from the republicans to make it so no administration can do this ever again?

Here is the biggest part of the problem. I am not saying the republicans are the only part of the problem here. During the Bush years democrat supporters and liberals ran into a brick wall with getting their people to launch some sort of removal of the patriot act and getting things in place to prevent it. The supreme court is doing nothing on it. Now all of a sudden it is horrible to republicans and republican people in congress seem to be listening when their base cries loud enough. All they can do is blame Obama like if he goes away the patriot act leaves with him. Well, it doesn't leave with the asshole. Bush left and the patriot act is still there. Obama could be impeached tomorrow and we will still have the patriot act. Don't give us the BS that so and so party is any better than the other one if your party is sitting on it's ass and doing nothing. Obama is not the person at fault for it being here. He could be overturned. He cannot be said to be blocking bills to remove the patriot act when none are proposed. The best that can be said is he is not proposing bills on his own, and that is great but there are hundreds of members of the legislature who could be proposing removing the patriot act. If the voters sent a message that if you do not say yes to this you will lose your primaries and they will get a willing member of their party to do it then these people would have to listen. Instead the whining goes on about blaming Obama, or the dems from the republicans yet none of them ask why their people do not propose something to stop the patriot act. We already know the dems support the patriot act and will do nothing, because they have been being asked for the past decade to do something and haven't. Where are the hero republicans like rand Paul, Ted Cruz, or Mark Rubio to stop the evil patriot act? It seems to me they are a lot of talk and no action.

From the AP article

Trying to use the "blame b00sh" card in this instance to obfuscate and deflect real abuses of power is pathetic and desperate

They can whine about B00sh all they want. Doesn't excuse this abuse of power.

They will try to anyway. THeres no need to help them.

No. I read the other link to the National Journal and it is just some conservative ragsheet masquerading, very poorly, as something it obviously isn't...........................

The ugly truth is that the wing of the Republican Party that wants to curtail government intrusion is the Tea Party.

But you've already been brainwashed by the media to hate their guts cause they're racist bigots.

Maybe you have more in common with the Tea Party than with Democrats. Does that blow your mind?
