IRS apologizes for inappropriately targeting conservative political groups[W:484,732]

Re: IRS apologizes for inappropriately targeting conservative political groups in 201

Who defended them?

Justbubba did. Try and keep pace with the thread.

Justbubba: because they thought they were doing the job they were assigned to perform

Re: IRS apologizes for inappropriately targeting conservative political groups in 201

He defended them by shifting blame to their superiors who told them to do it. I will try to keep up if you will try to think a bit...

Where did he say that their superiors told them to do it?

Re: IRS apologizes for inappropriately targeting conservative political groups in 201

Why do political advocacy groups get tax exempt status anyways? I thought politics and tax exempt weren't to be mixed?

For the same reason that Media Matters is tax exempt.

Who do you think assigns people to perform their jobs.

Re: IRS apologizes for inappropriately targeting conservative political groups in 201

LOL...if that's the case, then they're way too stupid to hold those positions and need to be relieved of their posts, for incompetance.
you are the last person on these boards to make that statement
On what level of idiocy does one have to be, to think this is ok?
let's see. IRS staff auditing financial data to monitor compliance. and then we see organizations which are political and in their political discussions advocate non-compliance with tax authorities
nothing there smacks of idiocy. i would instead commend the staff for aptly recognizing that groups expressing political values and opposing tax compliance are more likely to be "political" and "non-compliant" with tax laws
but tell us why you believe otherwise. i need a laugh

The most amazing part, is how you people are swooping in to defend these asshats.
i think that a TSA agent who selects someone who fits the bomber profile for strict scrutiny rather than an elderly woman needing assistance to walk, is smarter than the agent who does the opposite
tell me why you support the agent who does the opposite; selects for audit those with little expectation of being found non-compliant

Re: IRS apologizes for inappropriately targeting conservative political groups in 201

Lol, easy there buddy. They were asked a lot of questions. Hardly "going through hell". Unless you feel the same about the TSA, then carry on with the faux outrage.

They were discriminated against, because of their perceived political ideology. Is discrimination ok, as long as it's not against the, "wrong", group?

Ahh the old standard, blame Bush!

"I.R.S. is an independent enforcement agency," said Carney. "The -- which I believe, as I understand it, contains only two political appointees within it. The individual who is running the I.R.S. at the time was actually an appointee from the previous administration."

If you were correct in your defense of this shameful behavior, the IRS wouldn't have apologized...LOL!!!!

You ARE aware that the IRS admitted wrong doing, here. Yes?

Who do you think assigns people to perform their jobs.

So, maybe there IS a conspiracy?

Re: IRS apologizes for inappropriately targeting conservative political groups in 201

I think that would be to point out the appointee's probable polotical leaning, not to blame it on Bush. You guys really need to quit recycling your Memes, gets boring and predictable. Hey, when is the birth certificate thing coming back?

Discrimination isn't a big deal? You're ok with tyranny, as long as it's as much as you can tolerate?

Re: IRS apologizes for inappropriately targeting conservative political groups in 201

POLITICAL appointees are the ones who have decided that the IRS will not identify which filings are more likely to be non-compliant
POLITICAL appointees are the ones who terminated auditors to effect budget cuts, despite that auditors return 28 times their cost to the treasury
the IRS worker bee employees exercised common sense that the POLITICAL employees did not
hence the apology

Yes because the press conference was to educate the reporters on how the IRS is structured, how the people are hired and give them a flow chart of who reports to who.

Wonder who that low level worker who sets IRS policy works under, Homer simpson?

In front of the storm, the cowards tend to go inside the house. With that said, why bring up a nonsequitur? I asked a general question. You replied with some irrelevant nonsense.

And, in return you call me a coward. What's your point?

First time I ever heard it. Care to post some links exhibiting it's common use?
