In Washington state ( they have to request it) we still hang people. Also Washington is the only state with an active Gallow.

Probably just me. Either way, hope she enjoys prison
No, it's actually logical that you thought that way. After Casey Anthony walked I could have seen it happening.

far more humane than cyanide gas and much quicker

one of my table tennis club members was from, IIRC, Malyasia. Years ago a fairly pretty 20 something British girl got caught smuggling heroin into that country. Even Lady Thatcher couldn't save her. She was hung. Pictures of her in a urine stained prison dress hanging were posted in airports over there with warnings to foreigners about smuggling narcotics in that area of the world

I thought from the verdict there'd be a good chance she'd get the death penalty. They were 100% in agreement that she committed premeditated murder, they were just divided on whether or not she committed the murder during the course of a felony, that being breaking and entering the man's home. She seems entirely unsympathetic to me and Arizona doesn't strike me as a state where people give murderers a break.
The U.S. executes very few women. It is actually rare. There are only 4 women currently on death row. She'll get the usual life sentence.

Arias certainly was confident, wasn't she?

I hope so. I oppose the death penalty anyway, but Arias actually expressed one of my reasons. She said she wants her "freedom." That's exactly what I don't want her to have--the escape of death. Here's hoping that she lives a very long and very healthy life behind bars.

    An excellent point.

    Thank you.

Every time I've seen the post-conviction interview clip where Arias says this, I want to scream at the screen, "And THIS is EXACTLY why you shouldn't be given the death penalty!!"

She deserves us to spend at least a million her, maybe two, but she might get a chance to kill another inmate saving us money or a guard, creating a new job for someone that needs one.

Especially since suicide is illegal in prison so there is nothing she could do about it.
