House Republicans are crazy, they still are, they are preparing to vote, for the 40th time, to repeal Obamacare.

Obamaphobia is now the core of conservatism. There's no there there without it.

But the fact that in such a strongly conservative state, the GOP can't elect anybody but a freak like "soulmate" Sanford, speaks volumes about what conservatism is.

Former Republican South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford revived a scandal-scarred political career by winning back his old congressional seat Tuesday in a district that hasn't elected a Democrat in three decades.

The comeback was complete when he defeated Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, the sister of political satirist Stephen Colbert. With 87 percent of the precincts reporting, Sanford had 54 percent of the vote.

too ****in funny to see this level of partisan blindness.
Now you know how I felt when Marion Berry got re-elected to public office.

A process argument does not answer a question of principle. I'm not inclined to defend House Repubs. "Hunting" is political junk food for the lefty base.

Several of the Repub would-be nominees would have won. Sanford was the one they preferred, not the one they needed.

It was because he was so romantic -- to the tea party sensibilities of South Carolina.

South Carolina has been officially designated as ground zero for conservative quantum weirdness.

His Argentine adventure aside, he was a successful two term governor and had been a competent Congressman before that. He'll be a good Congressman, I suspect.

Overlooking the fundamental freakishness of the man says alot about where modern conservatism is.

I just hope he doesn't break into somebody elses house before coming to Washington.
