Republican Mark Sanford and Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch are in a dead heat in their South Carolina race for Congress, as a new poll shows the embattled ex-governor erasing a deficit as voters make their final decision Tuesday.
The poll by Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP) shows Sanford leading Colbert Busch by 1 percentage point, or 47% to 46% among likely voters. South Carolina's 1st District is a GOP stronghold, but Sanford has portrayed himself as a underdog as he fights for redemption after an extramarital affair in 2009 derailed his once-promising political career.

Poll: Sanford vs. Colbert Busch too close to call

Amazing because according to the so called experts Sanford was 9 points down just two weeks ago....

Oh I am sure that will go over just fine....pfft! Bunch of cheaters liberals are....

(Reuters) - The Justice Department will monitor voting in Charleston County, South Carolina, in Tuesday's special election to fill a House of Representatives seat, the department said on Monday.
Former South Carolina Republican Governor Mark Sanford is facing Democratic newcomer Elizabeth Colbert Busch, sister of television political satirist Stephen Colbert, in the First District House race.
The Justice Department said in a statement it was monitoring the election under provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The law bars election discrimination on the basis of race, color or membership in a minority language group.
The department did not give a reason for the monitoring. Tuesday's vote will take place under South Carolina's new law mandating photo identification for voters, and Justice Department monitors observed primary elections.

Oh so now the Obama administration is going to make sure that no lib is left out....And I am sure when they announce that Colbert-Busch won, in a district that reports a substantial amount more republicans than democrats, it'll be nothing to see here.....

You libs better realize this ain't NC, this is the south you are screwing around with now.....:2wave::2wave:

LoLz...

Seriously, planning your complaints already in case your guy loses? Couldn't be his own fault, what has he done wrong....

Go easy on him. Excuses and conspiracy theories is all he has left.

I think he probably was. He's run a good campaign the last few weeks trying to tie Colbert-Busch to the national Democrats.

Actually depending on the state, it's fairly common to be listed a couple of times if you have cross endorsements. When I lived in NY, there was a guy who was Mayor of Buffalo named Jimmy Griffin. He was actually a Democrat, but the party heads hated him so he had to run in a primary every time. He was also cross-endorsed by the Republican party (because Democrats hated him), the Conservative Party (they had their own line) and the Right to Life Party. So after winning the Democratic primary, he was listed by everybody BUT the Liberal Party, who usually endorsed the guy who lost the Dem primary already. When I voted there in the '96 Presidential Election, Bob Dole was listed by 3 parties and Bill Clinton twice.

I know. Making sure people vote. Just terrible....we shouldn't listen to voters we should just listen to the Republican Party.

Right-wing resistance to attempts at increasing voter turnout always turn the stomach a bit.

With choices like that I hope the Libertarians had a good candidate,

Cause I couldn't vote for either of them !!

The fact that conservatives would vote for the freakish Sanford is so telling.

No level of weirdness will keep tea party types away. Indeed, it attracts them.

How's that Argentinian soul mate thingie working out for SC conservatives?

It's called Conservative "Personal Responsibility".

Meaning you're to blame for all their failures.

PPP is a very accurate polling firm, they know what they are doing. As for being 9 points down a few weeks ago, there has been larger margins erased.

Oh well, better luck next time HoJ.

Hopefully he won't bankrupt his district with taxpayer funded flights to his next orgasm.

No problem. I have it on good authority that the Democrats plan to wave a Latin tart at Governor "Wind Swept Somewhere" and he'll disappear for a while just at the wrong moment.

I saw one website earlier today saying this loss could be good for the Democrats. I can kind of see it that way. One seat doesn't really matter that much, especially since it will be probably lost in the 2014 elections anyway so it wouldn't really help to take the House. And now Democrats have a distraction in Mark Sanford that they can use.

Still, if I was a Democrat I'd see reasons to be worried. Sanford's campaign got all of the momentum when he started to really tie Colbert-Busch to Pelosi and the national Democrats. If that is the type of campaign style that'll work next year, it will not be a good year for them.

Yeah and that just so pisses you off doesn't it...:lamo

I think that what would piss people off is the cons pretending to be fiscally responsible and family values oriented and respect the sanctity of marriage after chosing this twat over 15 other reps who didn't use state money to fly to argentinia to cheat on his wife. Him actually stealing from the public to cheat on his wife in argentinia while n the job as governor, or the fact that cons will vote for him despite the clear problems with his morals and ethics because he has an R next to his name is not surprising at all. We already knew that they were liars and cheaters and support thieves and jerkoffs. We just don'rt care much for people like that playing the moral superiority card.

But now every time a con uses sanctity of marriage, family values, or fiscal responsibility we can smack them around with the sanford stick for fun.

Yep, I see it pisses you off too! :lamo

Just as long as you never claim fiscal responsibility and family values again, I am cool with it. It is not like I am paying SC taxes for this guy to hump some hooker in argentinia.

Really though, for all the reasons you state it surprises me that the Democrats could/did not field a candidate who could defeat him. A month ago I would have made a reasonable wager Sanford didn't have a chance. Kinda delegitimizes the oft posted warning from the left about 2014...

So you agree that we neither should 'claim fiscal responsibility and family values again'? I'm good with that.
