Bill Ayers Defends Weather Underground Bombings

Bill Ayers is a part of the left leaning groups in America. It seems to me that they are winning the hearts and minds of America. Recent elections, cultural changes etc. They, the leftists will write the history books 100 years from now. Don't summarily dismiss what Ayers says. Recall the words of Curtis LeMay . He said ( paraphrase) 'if we had lost the war we would be tried as war criminals.'

No, when right-wingers fight the government they're fighting for freedom.
What freedom are they fighting for that they don't already have?

So when the Tea Partiers try and play out their little revolution fantasy, it will be justified. Because they're fighting tyranny, you see! (note: they wont actually do anything except bitch on facebook and internet forums)
Fortunately, not everyone thinks that going back to the dark ages is a good idea.

Because Bush didn't commit treason.
Thats debatable when you consider he helped to mislead the country into an illegal war and almost bankrupted the country. I suspect that Bush's advisor, John Bolton might have known that the Neocons plotting and planning would be illegal or he wouldn't have advised Bush not to sign the International Criminal Court treaty as soon as he took office.

Oh come on, that's nonsense....What leads you to believe that the TP are violent in any way?

NO, we didn't sign on to the ICC because we value our sovereignty....Also, if you want to go with the premise that Bush mislead, and that equals treason in your eyes, then Obama mislead about this situation, and the same should apply no?

It's not about freedoms we don't have, it's about keeping freedoms guaranteed by our creator...You know, the Bill of Rights?

Fortunately, not everyone thinks that going back to the dark ages is a good idea.

Fortunately, not everyone believes that they can just make up, or take away rights on a whim....

You don't seem to have a problem stomping on the soveriegnty of other countries but if other countries didn't recognize US sovereignty then for all intent, it doesnt exist either.

I don't recall Obama going to the UN and lying in order to take us into a foreign war. But do tell if you know something that the UN, congress and the Pentagon doesn't.

No, you're right, Obama went into Libya without even going to the UN...So, yeah....Thanks for reminding me of that...On that note Obama is worse.

Bill Ayers defends Weather Underground bombings - Local - Ohio

There is, of course, no equivalence between the Weather Underground bombings and what McCain did. McCain as a fighter pilot in Vietnam was acting on the legal and moral authority of a democratic nation, the United States, while Ayers was committing criminal terroristic acts of violence. Again and again Ayers claims that McCain's actions and the actions of the United States were illegal, but that's only his opinion, an opinion most any legal authority would acknowledge is completely wrong. There is no responsible legal entity that would claim that war in defense of national self interest, in this case as one chapter of the Cold War, is not a legitimate act of a sovereign nation. I know of no one outside of fringe radicals who claims that LBJ committed troops to Vietnam illegally.

The Weather Underground per se did not kill anyone although in some of their bombings they showed no concern for the possiblity of casualties. Former members of the organization killed three policemen shortly after the group fell apart, apparently in pursuit of revolutionary aims. The Weather Underground on at least one occasion built a bomb meant to be an antipersonnel device, a nail bomb, but it went off prematurely and killed three of their own members instead. Ayers now looks back and tries to claim credit for avoiding deaths, but the nail bomb they tried to build puts the lie to this claim, and Ayers and his ilk should receive no credit just for being poor bomb makers.

Oddly enough, the acts of the Boston bombers might be more legitimate than Ayer's bombings were if they were acting on behalf of a foreign power at war with the United States. As acts of war they are not, strictly speaking, criminal matters. If they are just a couple of nut cases who imagined themselves as acting on behalf of some cause without any real authority to do so, then it's a criminal matter, of course.

The US is a Republic, just for your general information. Was Bill Ayers ever convicted of crimes which he is alleged to have been part of? In the US there are rules of law and one is innocent until proven guilty in court not in the court of public opinion. Thanks

No, you're right, Obama went into Libya without even going to the UN...So, yeah....Thanks for reminding me of that...On that note Obama is worse.
Hmmm, Bush and Blair went to war even though there was no UN Security Council vote authorizing it.

Well, this is the court of public opinion we are in, so it's all good....

You would be wrong on that, but this isn't a thread on Iraq....Start another thread if you want to discuss that, otherwise Pete, quit derailing this one.

Uhhh well, I know for a fact that neither the creator or the Bill of Rights guarentees anything and that apparently you don't. Yes, you may have the natural right to eat and a right to work and protect yourself, but neither the creator or the constitution can "guarentee" that you will eat or that you will work or that you won't get harmed or killed.

Fortunately, not everyone believes that they can just make up, or take away rights on a whim....
The constitution doesn't guarentee or grant rights, it simply protects them by recognizing they exist...and the creator can't change or alter the constitution because that requires an amendment with 2/3 majority vote of the states. But unfortunately, there are too many fools who think they can interpret the constituion to fit their ideology and are so full of irrational fear and nonsense that they've lost all common sense and reason...thats if they even had any to begin with.

No, you're wrong, Obama didn't go into Libya, he worked with NATO to provide air support for the Libyan freedom fighters. So on that note, Obama is a far better leader than you deserve.

He didn't go to congress which is his responsibility!!

Screw NATO go to congress!!!

You need to read the whole constitution, not just the parts that you think you can change at will.

Oh the irony....Quick someone get Moot a mirror.

Obama is a deceptive, two faced, lying waste of a human being....He should be frog marched across the lawn in cuffs.

Oh my, it didn't take long for you to expose what you're really full of, did it? I rest my case.

What makes you think Obama didn't go to congress? He wouldn't have gotten the funding to help NATO if he didn't...doh.

Bush spends $3T in Iraq producing the biggest foreign policy disaster since Vietnam, and conservative praise him. Obama spends almost nothing to liberate Libya, no boots on the ground, no insurgency, and the crackpot conservatives attack him for "going into" Libya.

And they wonder why the GOP is increasingly irrelevant.

You're interrupting the whacky tea party narrative with the facts!

Because Bush didn't commit treason.
Knowingly lying to congress in order to go to war on false pretenses is a treasonous offense.
Additionally, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and many others in their cabinet will never be seen leaving the United States. If they do they will be immediately arrested and brought to trial for war crimes in the world court.
They are war criminal exiles in their own country.
