If Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground shortened the Vietnam war by only one day or saved the life of only one American serviceman from being squandered they are my heroes.
I believe they did contribute to the shortening of the war and I believe that they saved many Americans by doing that.
The war criminal Nixon on the other hand, purposely sabotaged the Paris peace agreement with the Johnson administration so he could get his treasonous, republicon ass elected in 1968, continuing the war for four more long years and thus killing thousands of American troops and possibly millions of Southeast Asians.
Given the opportunity I would gladly **** on Nixon's treasonous grave.
Were you asleep during that time? Johnson was just as hated by the anti-war crowd as Nixon. And if you had read Johnson's autobiography you'd know he didn't see a prayer of an end to the conflict before the end of his terms. He was still committing more troops when he left office. He lists it as his greatest regret that he could find no way to end that war.

Bill Ayers and the WU/SDS didn't do squat other than destroy property and scare the hell out of a lot of people.

Btw, Nixon was a Quaker, and where Johnson committed us to the war and pretty much made up the Gulf of Tonkin incident to get us there, Nixon withdrew troops from day one of his term and did his best to close down the war quickly and return as many of us safely as was possible (bombing the trail was part of that).

You really have no idea what you're talking about, you're just going with the tired repub/dem bias crap.

Those who committed action - yes. Though we as a society have seemed to settle with the long prison sentences, and in some cases the DP they were given by a court of law. Asshats like Ayers were given a pass because they managed to stay in hiding for long enough after their treasonous actions.

Bombing of Vietnam's dikes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nixon: We've got to quit thinking in terms of a three-day strike [in the Hanoi-Haiphong area]. We've got to be thinking in terms of an all-out bombing attack - which will continue until they - Now by all-out bombing attack, I am thinking about things that go far beyond. I'm thinking of the dikes, I'm thinking of the railroad, I'm thinking, of course, the docks.
    Kissinger: I agree with you.
President Nixon: We've got to use massive force.
Two hours later at noon, H. R. Haldeman and Ron Ziegler joined Kissinger and Nixon:
President: How many did we kill in Laos?
Ziegler: Maybe ten thousand - fifteen?
Kissinger: In the Laotian thing, we killed about ten, fifteen.
President: See, the attack in the North that we have in mind, power plants, whatever's left - POL [petroleum], the docks. And, I still think we ought to take the dikes out now. Will that drown people?
Kissinger: About two hundred thousand people.
President: No, no, no, I'd rather use the nuclear bomb. Have you got that, Henry?
Kissinger: That, I think, would just be too much.
President: The nuclear bomb, does that bother you?...I just want you to think big, Henry, for Christsakes.

You probably still think they just haven't found Saddam's WDM yet. Conservatives and their delusions!

Meanwhile, I'm amazed that Bill Ayers is running for president again. Or at least the rightwing noise machine apparently thinks he is

Perhaps you should reaquaint yourself with the thread OP. Nothing about him running for POTUS. It's about him trying to justify his past criminal actions. Guess he's still trying to wash away the stench. It's not working.

And LaPierre and the NRA have never committed terrorist acts. That is a rather important difference that you conveniently left out.
