Israel launches airstrike into Syria

So that is a no to a real answer, and a bad excuse. I just figured i would ask.

 no one has suggested that we put US lives at risk for a jewish theocracy, as none currently exists. Do you have anything to contribute to this conversation?

hey don't get mad at me, i just wanted to know why the right supports the state of isreal so much. All you needed to say was you were not going to answer me, but you made a bad excuse. Now if you want to get back to the topic why is the US even involved in any of this? Why is there even a question of our involvement in this whole thing? I can ask you the same questions eco ignored. How are syrian terrorists a special danger to the US? Can they get their chemical payload to the US cvia missile? can they get their weapons to the US border via Naval and land route? How are they a danger to us that requires another invasion that historically doesn't work out well for us like the last few we have had?

If you are not supporting an invasion and you are just thinking the president and our embassadors should wag our fingers at syria in disapproval and we should not consider backing Isreal in any other way than words then just say that. make the definitive statement that going to war with syria for the sake of isreal and it's safety is not something you endorse. because no one really cares about two countries shooting at each other unless their country might get involved in it. No one gets all worried because african governments are shooting at each other because we won't be bothered sending troops there. The reason we care about syria is because we know when isreal gets backed into a corner like the bitches they are Obama will be under pressure to do something with our military. So yes I am following this to it's conclusion. becuase this is not just a case where we are going to wag our finger at syria. there is already discussion of the consequences of war with syria before this BS, and the war is the problem. No one would care about syria or isreal if it wasn't about actually going to war.

So you can keep pretending this is not about war, but it is about the US getting involved in this spat. If it wasn't about US and world involvement in this spat it would be in international issues where it was just a trivial discussion like every other conflict no one cares about.

 then you are welcome to start a thread on it, instead of trying to threadjack this one :).

maybe you can expmlain tot he rest of us why our military should commit and die for a clearly religious state when US values a separation of church and state? Isreal is an established religious theocracy and even has made rules which makes jews the preferred class in the country. AT least when we went into iraq we tried to give them democracy and elections, but no one wants isreal to start making things equal for non-jews. Why should the defenders of america and it's freedoms from religious tyranny fight for a religious state?

You display such complete ignorance coupled with dishonesty and bigotry that it is difficult to even know where to begin here.

It's downright Orwellian how somebody motivated by hatred for an ethnicity can try to twist reality in this way.

Looks like Israel are no longer on Americas leash, should be interesting over the next few years...

What on Earth are you talking about?

Everything he/she typed in that post you quoted was (imo) dead right.

Israel IS a state that CLEARLY favours The Jewish religion over all others.

America is about separation of Church and state...Israel is the exact opposite.

And you call him/her a bigot for speaking the truth?

One can not approve of a group of people's actions and yet still see them as equals.

I do not know if he/she is a bigot or not...but I saw little/nothing in his/her post to indicate they are.

Maybe you should learn a little wisdom before you start calling people 'bigots' just because you don't like what they say.

I agree completely.

A word to the wise. Every ounce of your credibility that you try to lend to tererun has been thrown into a black hole, and there is no getting it back.

That being said, Israel has greater separation of church and state than - for example - Great Britain, and I have yet to see anybody argue some kind of first-amendment threat from our relationship with them.

I agree completely.

Then you are either you are a fool, or you did a poor job of reading, and aren't aware of what he is arguing.

However, I would love to see what you consider to be examples of Israels' "religious tyranny". We can compare it, if you like, to all the other states in the region.

or you could be honest, instead. It's your call.

Just because you are willing to lie about Isreal being a religious state, that does not make it so. If you actually knew a thing or two about the world, you would not say what you say.

The rerun is on my ignore list for a reason...but I still agree with what he/she said in the post I quoted.

My father was British, I am quite familiar with the country. And there is no chance you are going to convince me that G.B. is less fair to it's religious minorities then Israel is to theirs...so do not even try.

Definition of LIE

intransitive verb
1
: to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive

Lie - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

To know I lied means you know what my intent was. And since you cannot know that, you cannot know I am lying or not.

Btw - I am not.

First you call people bigots for speaking the truth. Then you call people liars when you have no idea what their intent was.

I see talking to you is a complete waste of time.

Have a nice day.

Lets look at this way.....the US is a House.....just like anyone elses house. One has to maintain their own house. Take care of those in their own house. Pay the bills, Budget ones monies. All those Common-sensical issues that All must deal with daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly.

Now after ya got ya house in order.....you can go out to play. Where the Big Boyz play and are all part of the Game. Not to difficult to understand where the Real Issues that Mean anything are.....and can affect each's own house, all across the world.

Hope that helps.....especially with those priorities in understanding, that which Makes ones House Trivial. In the real Crux of things. ;)

THe only other possible explanation is that you are so ignorant that you should not even be trying to discuss the issue.

Perhaps when you become of age, you will start to learn a bit about the world.

I don't give a crap what he/she is arguing.

I commented about his statement....nothing more or less.

As for rest of the Middle East?

I freely agree there are countries much more pathetic to it's citizens then Israel - which in NO WAY excuses Israel's treatment of her Palstinian citizens OR those in the occupied territories.
To me, the Israeli leaders should be brought up on war crimes trials for their disgusting treatment of the Gazans (and to a lesser extent) those in the West Bank over the decades.
And I could care less about big, bad Hamas.
Israeli leaders love Hamas. It gives them the excuse they need to keep Gazans under virtual lock and key. And Hamas (those idiots - manyof whom should also be brought up on war crimes charges) actually make Israel look like the good guys to the more ignorant in the world.
That's why old fat boy climbed the Temple Mount back when...to deliberately start the intifada.
Only an ignoramus does not realize that - no offence, I respect your opinions on some other issues...not this one.

As for those countries - like Saudi Arabia - I am even more against America supporting them then I am her supporting Israel.

Now if you excuse me, I realize you supporters of America's support of Israel can sometimes be COMPLETELY closed minded on the subject.

And since wasting my time is not something I like to indulge in...I will pass on pointlessly debating with you and other closed minded people on the subject.

Have a nice day.

You seem to be a bit mobile here. Perhaps you could let us know: Are you suggesting that Israel has a greater connection between Church and State than Great Britain, or do you wish to shift the goalposts to a less-well-defined "treatment of others" argument?

And since your mind is obviously made up...I will not waste my time and try and change yours either.

 I actually happen to know a little bit about the region, which is why I laugh at the ridiculously uninformed nature of posts like the one you laud. You should have stuck with your original instincts on the author. You will notice outside of the initial set of charges, he has yet to respond with any supporting data.

:) and you as well. Feel free to take the rant into the ME forum where it belongs. Congratulations to Tererun in finding an ally in your attempt to derail this thread into a "yeah but israel is mean!" discussion.

Officials: Israel launches airstrike into Syria

Israel launched an airstrike into Syria, apparently targeting a suspected weapons site, U.S. officials said Friday night.

The strike occurred overnight Thursday into Friday, the officials told The Associated Press. It did not appear that a chemical weapons site was targeted, they said, and one official said the strike appeared to have hit a warehouse.

The U.S. officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Israel has targeted weapons in the past that it believes are being delivered to the Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah. Earlier this week, Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah said his group would assist Syrian President Bashar Assad if needed in the effort to put down a 2-year-old uprising.

Israeli Embassy spokesman Aaron Sagui would not comment Friday night specifically on the report of an Israeli strike into Syria.

"What we can say is that Israel is determined to prevent the transfer of chemical weapons or other game-changing weaponry by the Syrian regime to terrorists, specially to Hezbollah in Lebanon," Sagui said in an email to the AP.

In 2007, Israeli jets bombed a suspected nuclear reactor site along the Euphrates River in northeastern Syria, an attack that embarrassed and jolted the Assad regime and led to a buildup of the Syrian air defense system. Russia provided the hardware for the defense systems upgrade and continues to be a reliable supplier of military equipment to the Assad regime.

Alright... who the F knows how this all came about but my tin foil hat is screaming on this one. Syria crossed Obama's line in the sand and Israel attacks. Here's what it looks like with my hat on... Now, instead of the big fear of the U.S. arming the rebels who may very well be more religiously fanatic than we'd like who'd then in turn attack the west or support terrorist groups against us and Israel... now these potential fanatics when they land Syria by ousting Assad, they practically have to give Israel some kind of kudos starting them off in a rather akward position for trying to hate the guys that very publicly helped them.
"The enemy of my friend is my enemy" as such.

THe only other possible explanation is that you are so ignorant that you should not even be trying to discuss the issue.

Perhaps when you become of age, you will start to learn a bit about the world.

Perhaps when I care what you think much then I will care about what you just said.

I am done with you on this for now.

Have a nice day.

I have not a clue what tererun is saying on ANYTHING ELSE in this forum..,don't try to lump me in with things I have not read, please.

Guilty by association wore out it's welcome during McCarthyism.

I am suggesting exactly what I typed...no more or less.

As for tererun?

Just because someone is in my ignore list (as they are) does not mean I will not defend them if I feel they are being (imo) wrongly accused.

As I typed before, I have respect for your views on other subjects...just not this one.

And since I highly doubt either if us will change their minds...further discussion seems pointless in this issue.

Fair 'nuff. But a "me too" without being willing to explain ones' support is a fairly weak defense.
