This truly is breaking news. Just heard it. This is all I can find so far. I have to get back to work, but if anyone has any updates to add, please do it. Thanks. I'll check back later!

Boston Police Take 3 More Suspects Into Custody For Marathon Bombings

The three suspects being held by the police are college students who allegedly helped Dzhokhar Tsarnaev after the double bombing near the finish line on April 15, the Boston Globe reported.

Tsarnaev, 19, was a student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. His brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was killed during a shootout and attempted getaway from police in Watertown four days after the Marathon bombing.

The Globe reports that the new suspects are allegedly linked to Dzhokhar, who's in a Massachusetts prison hospital and charged with conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction.

The attack at the Marathon killed three people and wounded more than 260 others.

This is a developing story -- check back for updates.

This could go from 2 fanatical kids to organized terror in a hurry.

College students? I wonder how much of my tax dollars went to their education, housing and food.

Exactly. The only smart thing to do is shut down any and all public aid in college expenses or any kind of education for that matter, just in case we accidentally give aid to a crazy person.

That's why you and I advocate for shutting down the entire military right? Because Nidal Hasan was a U.S. Army major and actually received pay from the us government, my tax dollars, and he was crazy and killed people. It only makes sense right?

Uh oh! Are they going to have to shut down the city again?

yesterday, boston herald:

The Tsarnaev family, including the suspected terrorists and their parents, benefited from more than $100,000 in taxpayer-funded assistance — a bonanza ranging from cash and food stamps to Section 8 housing from 2002 to 2012, the Herald has learned.

“The breadth of the benefits the family was receiving was stunning,” said a person with knowledge of documents handed over to a legislative committee today.

The state has handed over more than 500 documents to the 11-member House Post Audit and Oversight Committee, which today met for the first time and plans to call in officials from the Department of Transitional Assistance to testify.

Probably three of his buddies who helped him after the fact. They might not have even known what he had just done, or foolishly didn't believe it. That he ended up alone in the boat doesn't really suggest these three stuck with him all that long.

Yep, I just threw this one up in the Prof's Thread too..... Rueters has confirmed too.

A U.S. law enforcement source said that two of the suspects taken into custody on Wednesday include classmates of the younger brother at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth. They are being held by immigration officials for violating the terms of their visas. The source said they are likely to face charges related to obstruction of justice and with making false statements to investigators.

Police are investigating whether the classmates threw away a backpack at Tsarnaev's request after the bombing, which killed three people and injured 264 others. Last week law enforcement officials were seen searching dumps in southeastern Massachusetts.

The third person taken into custody on Wednesday was a U.S. citizen, and all three were being investigated for actions taken after the bombings, the U.S. law enforcement source said.

The lawyer for one of the men detained on Wednesday, identified as Dias Kadyrbayeye, said his client was being held for violations of his student visa.

The lawyer, Robert Stahl, said his client was "not a target" of the bombing investigation, but declined to comment on any other specifics. He said his client had "cooperated fully" with investigators and "wants to go home to Kazakhstan."

DOD Labels Ft. Hood Attack 'Workplace Violence'

I take it this is sarcasm. You must make it clearer.

A US army psychiatrist about to be deployed to Afghanistan allegedly shouted "Allahu Akbar", or "God is greatest", as he opened fire at a military base in Texas, killing 13 people and wounding 28...

...Hassan was reportedly inspired by a radical American-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. The two men exchanged as many as 20 emails, according to U.S. officials. Al-Awlaki was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Yemen in late September.

...Federal law enforcement officials told Associated Press that Hasan had come to their attention at least six months ago because of his web postings, which discussed suicide bombings and other threats.

Here, I thought he would want to go back to Dartmouth at least to finish up his classes.....hope he wasn't taking Chemistry. ;)

Heh, well I can understand them wanting to go "home". Without protection, here, they're at the mercy of anyone who wants extra-legal vengence. "Home" they've got the chance at least to be heroes in the Chechnyan commmunity.

this morning

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sent a written warning about accused Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2012, long before pressure-cooker blasts killed three and injured hundreds, according to a senior Saudi government official with direct knowledge of the document.

The Saudi warning, the official told MailOnline, was separate from the multiple red flags raised by Russian intelligence in 2011, and was based on human intelligence developed independently in Yemen.

Citing security concerns, the Saudi government also denied an entry visa to the elder Tsarnaev brother in December 2011, when he hoped to make a pilgrimage to Mecca, the source said. Tsarnaev's plans to visit Saudi Arabia have not been previously disclosed.

The Saudis' warning to the U.S. government was also shared with the British government. 'It was very specific’ and warned that 'something was going to happen in a major U.S. city,' the Saudi official said during an extensive interview.

It 'did name Tamerlan specifically,' he added. The 'government-to-government' letter, which he said was sent to the Department of Homeland Security at the highest level, did not name Boston or suggest a date for his planned attack.

A Homeland Security official confirmed Tuesday evening on the condition of anonymity that the 2012 letter exists, saying he had heard of the Saudi communication before MailOnline inquired about it.

The high-ranking Saudi official whom MailOnlne interviewed at length provided a wealth of detail about the warning he says his government sent to the United States. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to talk publicly about foreign intelligence, or about Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic relationship with the United States.

He suggested that the Saudi Ministry of Interior sent the letter out of an abundance of caution in order to be helpful to the United States, even though its intelligence on Tsarnaev wasn't yet fully developed.

'With Saudi Arabia it's always code red,' he said. 'There's no code orange, or code yellow. Always red.'

The Saudi government, he added, alerted the U.S. in part because it believed American authorities should be inspecting packages that came to Tsarnaev in the mail in order to search for bomb-making components.

The bolded part explains why this wasn't higher on the list of priorities for us.

'This is the fourth time the Saudi Arabian government has given the U.S. specific intel' about a possible terror plot, the official said, citing prior warnings about Richard Reid, the so-called shoe bomber who repeatedly tried to light a fuse in his shoe to bring down American Airlines flight 63 bound for Miami in December 2001.

He also cited the 300-gram 'ink-cartridge bombs' planted on two cargo planes headed for the United States from Yemen in October 2010. Those explosives were intercepted in Dubai, and at an East Midlands airport in Great Britain.

Wow, impressive strawman build you have going on there.

calm down.

I was referring to the general public and the hysteria that could come of these arrests and links, the way the media could portray it.... but thanks for the unwanted advice.

As always, your contribution is most unappreciated.

You should have said, "the media and public could jump to conclusions and turn this into another situation of mass hysteria, etc." instead of writing something that made you look like you were one of the hysterical people.
