Again, diversion from the discussion. Just answer the question Claire.

According to who's rules? I'm a parent, the FDA (FedGov) is taking away my RIGHT to raise my children as I see fit.

    Hitler did the same.

I'd also like to know if you are a parent?

Besides which, my parents finding out I had pre-marital sex would lead to great shame and potential disownment. My reproductive status is none of their business.

If they're mature enough to be having sex and maybe get pregnant, then they're mature enough to use the morning after pill.

My only concern is the lack of research about this pill for girls at age 15. But the FDA has been wreckless in recent years, so they'll just let the public experiment until something goes wrong and then modify the drug policy, as usual.
IMO (and the medical community) there is often a huge difference in judgement of adults and teens. That is why we have an age of consent for one thing. It's also why minors do not have all the same rights and privileges of adults. I'm not saying the age of consent or 18 or 21 fit everyone but those are 'ballparks' for most.

That's why we don't just let 15 yr olds just go live out on their own without parental permission...for example.

So do I believe that 15 yr olds will necessarily make the right decisions regarding their health over fear of parental punishment or pregnancy? No, I don't.

This is not a diversion: this pill can negatively affect a woman's health. There may be reactions. She may have some conditions that she chooses to ignore out of fear of pregnancy/her parents. Her parents may choose to contact her doctor first and make sure it doesn't conflict with other meds she's on, for example. She may take it in secret, tell no one, and then have a side effect that leads to her death.

EDIT: Oh, and this pill also does not protect against STDs.

Why bother with lobbying when you can get right in the hen house and be part of the decision making process.
It was the FDA that decided to not allow Plan B to be OTC for young women. It was a judge that ordered that Plan B be made available OTC, so the facts show that this appointment had nothing to do with it.

Testing and use show that Plan B is safe to use

Individuals can react to anything, including aspirin, ibuprophen, any over the counter drug. Or be allergic. Or have a reaction if they are on other medications. No medication is 100% safe.

Which is why everything should require a prescription and a letter of approval from their parents

Why does the same logical fallacy keep repeating itself over and over in this threat, unabated?

I think it's a serious mistake to assume that you have total control over your teenager. If they are able to have sex without you knowing then are obviously living their own life whether you want to let them or not.
