It is even more likely to happen in highly irresponsible people, aka teens and young adults.

And no, parents are not being "negligent" by simply trusting their teenaged daughters. You apparently feel that you wouldn't trust your teenage daughter if she told you she needed $50 for one or more of those things I mentioned, yet you would trust her to responsibly use Plan B or better yet trust her to have responsible sex as a teenager? Sort of messed up there isn't it?
There is no evidence that women come to rely on Plan B as birth control

15 year olds are not women.

Which is all the more reason a 15 year old should not have to have an abortion or become a mom because she made a mistake in the heat of the moment when Plan B could help prevent a pregnancy from happening.

So you support kids doing drugs.

Using Plan B to prevent pregnacy is no more using drugs than taking a Tylenol for a headache.

No one would be forcing her to do either of these things by simply requiring her to get a parent to get the Plan B for her so that the parent is informed. So that some adult has a chance to step in and get her put on real birth control, talk to her about the better methods of preventing not only pregnancy, but also STDs if she is having sex.

I'm all for sex education and birth control. But I also live in the real world and know that teens do not act like adults. Even young adults are prone to making bad decisions.

I have had someone I know who was relying on Plan B for birth control. She had a job and is in her twenties. Last year, she had a baby because she couldn't afford Plan B that one time because she didn't think about the consequences of her actions before hand.

And teens have been known to misuse Tylenol. But this isn't like Tylenol. Tylenol in more doses, at lower levels does not require a prescription. Tylenol doesn't result in people becoming so reliant on it that they could end up pregnant because they weren't able to afford the Tylenol whereas an alternative to Tylenol would have been the better choice for dealing with the issue.

Asking her parent the next day would give her the same protection and the extra benefit of being able to be put on actual birth control and hopefully give the parent an opportunity to talk to the teen about having responsible sex.

I honestly did not know so many adults and parents feel threatened because Plan B is going to be availble to teens 15 years old and up.

Perhaps the news that Plan B will avaible to teens over 15 can be used as an opprotunity for parents, grandparents, and relatives to open up a conversation with the teens you care about by saying you heard on the news that Plan B was going to made over the counter for those over 15.

Then you can tell your concerns about the effects of the drug, that it should only be be used as an emergency back up plan , that it is not as effective regular contraception, that it does not protect against STDs, and your feelings about teen sex in general.

Let your teens know you love them and that no matter what you will always love them and be there for them.
