US suspects Syria used chemical weapons [W:284]

I think I see the problem now. You're brainwashed. Brainwashed into believing that you are "fighting for freedom" lol. That's what the Soviet troops told their soldiers in Afghanistan too.

The Soviet troops said that?

Perhaps you can provide a link, otherwise there could be some concern that your own brain may have spent some time in the laundry.

You guys? I'd would have preferred bombing the crap out of them for two weeks and then left, telling them no more BS or it will happen again.

Who, and what BS?

You worry too much about pissing people off. Let them be nervous about pissing you off. The US is the one with the bombs and technology. You're clearly wrong about Saddam.

We should be concerned about pissing people off because it's what caused 9/11 and the Boston bombings. And no, both we and Iraq were better off with Saddam in power.

Why war with North Korea? What have they done?

Now if only you asked this question every time you wanted to drag us into another pointless war!

And what pray tell, gives you the right to pass judgement on us.

I'm not surprised, not at all. You didn't appear to be a rocket scientists judging from your posts.

I'm finishing my phd and did my masters in europe. I'm guessing you're not comparable.

LOL yeah I'm sure. What is your phd in, Cow Manure as fertilizer?

Being more informed than you, for one. I don't actually blame you for being brainwashed, I just think that you should make a better attempt at informing yourself and learning the facts. Being in the military is no excuse for being a brainwashed tool. I served.

Yes, and everyone here knows it's true. Ignorance can be overome, good luck.

How'd you guess... Socky?

You don't have to be concerned at all. Others will be concerned in your stead.

Yep, and your "concern" keeps causing us to go bankrupt and causes us to get attacked by terrorists. "Thanks" for your "concern."

Remarkable link on two fronts!

Firstly, you're using a movie as historical verification. I thought only Europeans did that.

Secondly, it didn't even verify your claim.

My friend, your brain has been washed, rinsed, spun dried, ironed, folded, and stuck away in a closet somewhere.

No, the debt is a result of profligate spending on nothing in particular and the terrorists attack you, and others all over the world, because they don't like infidels.

Now you can thank me.

So, Obama's 'serious' lines to cross are meaningless....Thanks for admitting that.

It is beginning to look that way, but let's wait and see. When it comes to WMD and wars in the Mid East, once burned, twice cautious.

I'm purdy sure that's NOT what they told their soldiers, in Afghanistan.

Except this time, it's a well known and documented fact that Syria has chemical weapons i.e. WMD.

I don't think this administration wants to acknowledge WMD was used. It might mean admitting they found the WMD that president Bush couldn't find.

You mean you think he was just looking in the wrong country?

We shouldn't get involved either way as far as I'm concerned. We don't know who all these rebel groups are...there are more than one single entity. We don't want another Libya. We don't want another Afghanistan.

The Syrian people have to do this. It is their fight...not ours. We can't afford another conflict. We are war weary nation. The United States should stand back entirely on this issue. No money, weapons, or anything to anyone.

That is true, of course, but then what does the administration do about the "red line" statement?

Pretty stupid statement, but I'd rather see Obama have egg on his face than our country embroiled in another conflict.

I say they should eat the dang crow and take the licking in the media...not like Obama has an election to win anymore.

I'm guessing he'll save face by sending weapons, or perhaps by bombing government targets, but not by sending boots on the ground.

The Brits and Italians have claimed that Sarin was used but American leadership doesn't want to know this because then they might have to act on it, red lines having been drawn. Better for them to say they are still unsure and have an excuse to do nothing.

The problem with that is the same with Libya...we don't know who exactly we're helping by sending weapons...

The President was foolish to back himself into a rhetorical corner by calling chemical weapons a red line in the conflict. Damascus is calling his bluff and now the administration is going to be forced to equivocate (I predict) on the differentiation between small scale use and large scale use. Then at some future point when there is a larger more public display and usage of the weapons we'll see another round of equivocation about how this isn't quite far enough. It is severely damaging to our reputation and hurts our ability to influence the conflict in the future because it degrades the value of our promises for action or support. Maybe I'm wrong but I'd be extremely surprised if this President engaged militarily whatsoever in Syria regardless of what happens.
