I live about 30 miles from Boston in NE Mass. There were hundreds if not thousands of local, state and federal Law Enforcement Officers hunting this guy down like a feral dog. I've never seen a dragnet like this in my life, and they did a spectacular job. If you think something like this emboldens anybody, you're nuts.

I'm not nuts. 2 guys shutting down a major city is one hell of a job. You gotta admit that.

Then unifying an entire community in the streets when it was over.

Pfft, a sports game does that for Boston most years.

I remember the days post 9/11. For at least two weeks, people were nice in traffic, in stores, everything. It may have lasted a month before people went back to crapping on each other.

I'm not even sure what your point is here. Businesses were asked to close and residents were asked to stay indoors, for what amounted to less than a day, while the most massive manhunt in my lifetime facilitated the death of one and the capture of the other. People I talked to said there were literally cops on every corner, and when there's just you and your pursuers, where the hell do you think you're gonna' go.

They didn't shut anything down. We did, because we weren't about to let these two animals get away, and they didn't.

Personally, I think everyone involved did a fantastic job. The residents of Watertown lined the street and applauded Law Enforcement as they drove away, and they certainly deserved it.

We're talking about the Boston Marathon bombings - not ancient history. : )

Statistically speaking, those 2 guys were insignificant were it not for the ghost town they (actually, we) created.
This is the first crowd-sourced anti-terrorism effort, winds up in 5 days what might have taken years, if ever, to solve. Good job social media. : )

You brought it up, not me. Tell that to yourself.

Oh, yeah... it would never have been solved.

What I don't understand is how some people go full-on "it could have been worse" but totally forget that argument when criticizing the acts of the "other party".

....Why so bitter? This showed America's resolve against terror and those who inflict harm upon this nation, and the Entire world watched. (sidenote: IF terror attacks in the US were more common place, we would then take a more Israeli approach of getting on with our business/not letting it affect our day to day life)
