The Senate has defeated a compromise proposal to expand background checks...[W: 349]

Re: The Senate has defeated a compromise proposal to expand background checks on fire

I saw that mincing turd Reid came out in favor of bans on semi autos and he wanted to start the slide towards banning anything than holds more than two shots. I hope that asshole loses his majority position and then his office. He needs to shed his kneepads and bib that he wears around Obama

I think when he was removed from the No-die list he also went off the no fly list:mrgreen:

Funny, but how many "good people" find themselves prevented from buying firearms? If they're wrongfully denied, how many are able to correct the situation?

Re: The Senate has defeated a compromise proposal to expand background checks on fire

Funny, but how many "good people" find themselves prevented from buying firearms? If they're wrongfully denied, how many are able to correct the situation?

it depends for what reason and how much money they have. in some cases its as simple as having the same name and a similar birth date as a thug. I know several high level LE operatives who get denied or delayed because their files have a lot of security inquiries. I am worried about lots of vets getting denied if they have some mental trauma from serving even if its not indicative of "snapping"

but the main arguments against the law that died are as follows

1) the constitutional foundation for the law is dubious. even under the massively expanded FDR definition of interstate commerce its hard to justify the feds having power over second hand sales that are-by law-LIMITED TO INTRA state sales

2) BTW if you actually engage in the profession or COMMERCE of selling guns you violate federal law by not having a license

3) the law cannot be enforced. you see, dealers have to keep a record of what they buy, sell and receive and that means the Feds can easily check if they complied with the BGC rules. not so with private sellers who have no duty to keep such records or to be available for inspections without warrants.

thus, many of us believe that the law was intended to "create a need" for such record keeping or registration

4) none of the highly publicized tragedies were due to a lack of a BGC. many of us tire of the democrats using a tragedy to push laws that have no relationship to a problem

the city that forces business to bring a bat to a gunfight

Illinois — where politicians force law-abiding citizens to bring a bat to a gunfight.

An amazing video released Wednesday that shows a Chicago shopkeeper fighting for his life should be a commercial for Second Amendment rights in this, the only state that doesn't allow citizens to carry a concealed handgun for protection.

The video, posted by the Tribune's Breaking News Center, shows in vivid and frightening detail how armed thugs robbed a gift and sports store Tuesday in the Logan Square neighborhood.

You can see the gunman demand the money. You see the store owner's brother-in-law with a gun to his head. You see the shots being fired, and the bat wielded by a wounded and desperate Luis Quizhpe, the 62-year-old proprietor who fought for his life.

can you deny it?

"obama’s team took news of the defeat hard wednesday, with some advisers predicting that gun regulation won’t be revived"

"it is hard for them to explain the failure of a measure supported by 90 percent of the public without making the president appear weak"

"one senior obama associate who works outside the white house said on condition of anonymity, 'if we can’t get it done four months after sandy hook, how are we going to get it done any time in the next four years?'"

“this is an unmitigated disaster”

uh oh

Re: The Senate has defeated a compromise proposal to expand background checks on fire

for someone to discuss reasonable restrictions they have to be reasonable. Your posts demonstrate you are a hard core gun hater who wants to ban guns and harass gun owners every chance you can. Thus your concept of what is reasonable really has no merit to most of us who support gun rights

You couldn't be more wrong. Sorry TD, but your are plain and simply wrong. I don't support gun bans. Take a deep breath......just because people support reasonable efforts to control gun violence like background checks, registration and waiting periods, doesn't mean that "They are coming for your guns". Again...take a breath....nobody is coming for your guns.

Re: The Senate has defeated a compromise proposal to expand background checks on fire

Is it all the way up to 93% now? :lamo

Do you honestly believe that many senators voted against their constituents the year before elections? You've been drinking the kool-aid Dude.

Pretty soon, it'll be the first poll in history to hit 100%. Funny thing is, I don't know anyone in favor of the bill. In New Jersey, no less. You would think that if those numbers were true, I'd be hard pressed to find anyone against the bill.

You don't think the left is trying to mislead us again, do you?

Now we just need to make sure the MS Media carries Obama's Failure all Weekend long. So he keeps hearing the Word.....Failed. I know he don't think this is good for himself. But in the Long Run it will be good for him. Put that ego of his in check. Now lets hope he understands that he was stopped from breaking or getting around the Second.

This is a Major Defeat for him.....Stunning and Stinging!

Getting more fodder to bury Republicans in 2014 is not a defeat. The Reps. that voted against it will have to face their constituents and tell them why.
You want this fight and you will get it.

Gallup: Only 4% of Americans Think Gun Control is an Important Problem | CNS News

Maybe people like background checks, but they don't like liberals messing with our guns.

LOL....CNS....one of the worst propaganda machines out there. They couldn't even get past the first paragraph without propoganizing the poll. The poll question was "What is the MOST important problem facing America"...and they interpreted it as "Only 4% of Americans think Gun Control is important.". Uh.....no. Only 4% thought it was the MOST important. Wow....talk about blatant dishonesty.

Gun Grabbing Fascism is not a major priority for the country right now

Instead of talking about the horrible Economy (which Obama and the Democrats now own completely), The Left has wasted months of political Capital on a failed gun grabbing scheme, standing on the bodies of murdered children and using grieving families as props to push their radical gun grabbing agenda. Didn't work.

Time to take out the trash in 2014 :2wave:

Oh...it definitely resonated with the overwhelming majority of this country. It didn't resonate with 46 Senators that lack a backbone to stand up to the wacko NRA and gun nuts. But make no mistake. This Country now clearly sees the NRA for the radical organization that they are. A bunch of wackos that would label mother's who's children were killed "Whores" and "Prostitutes" because they had the courage to stand and speak out.

The fact that you would call this a "Gun Grabbing" scheme, just shows how you have swallowed the propaganda hook line and sinker. Take a deep breath.....no one is coming after your bible or your guns.

Even 3 Democrats voted against this Fascist gun grabbing nonsense

The American People want a growing economy and jobs. Not gun grabbing schemes from fascists like Obama and the Democrats

You know, I had a guy in the shop yesterday, an old guy I've known a long time. The radio was on and there was a news update talking about what was being discussed in Congress. Harold pipes up and says he thinks it would be a good idea if they ban assault rifles. I was shocked because I know for a fact he keeps a. 38 revolver in his car, but he is literally the first person I have met in person who has said such a thing. Ever. So I shot him.

No I'm kidding. I changed his oil and sent him on his way. Of course he is entitled to his opinion, but I'm not buying 90%. I think it's more like the 54% we saw in the vote depending on how you ask the question. And if those folks want to be unarmed they can be. Their choice. But I'll keep mine, thank you.

Re: The Senate has defeated a compromise proposal to expand background checks on fire

It is odd that a 1000% of the population wants background checks, and yet it can't pass the Senate. Odd.

if you support gun bans you wouldn't tell us. gun violence is not controlled by imposing laws that only apply to law abiding people. and people like you said that registration wouldn't be used for confiscation in NJ, NY, California, Australia and the UK

guess what they were wrong and yet people like you continue to spew that nonsense

when you push laws that have no basis in fact as related to your stated goal, the law presume that your real motivation is one more sinister. its a pretext for discrimination and harassment

Re: The Senate has defeated a compromise proposal to expand background checks on fire

Reasonable restrictions don't require a Constitutional Amendment. An Amendment would only be necessary for infringments that could not be supported by a compelling governmental interest. Not the case here.

The second amendment has no such exceptions. But the point is still the same. If 93% of americans agree, it should be easy to get 3/4s of the states to agree to give the govt power to control firearms.

I have a .38 revolver in my car too.

And I find it a major embarrassment to be a gun owner right now.

To me it's un****ingbelieveable that due to these knuckle dragging gun nuts this watered down gun background check law can't pass.

I'm ****ing disgusted with their paranoid asses.

Re: The Senate has defeated a compromise proposal to expand background checks on fire

Absolutely. But that's something that a lot of the people on this site do not understand. They think ANY restriction automatically is unconstitutional. They refuse to be educated.

Ah yes, we dont agree with your interpretation, so we must be stupid. Next youll say its racism, no doubt.

opinion noted and rejected as silly. the proposed law had no reasonable chance of accomplishing anything other than setting a stage for those who wanted it demanding more restrictions to make this flawed turkey fly.

when you call it watered down its obvious you see incremental gun banning as a proper strategy

But you better listen to him, cause he owns a .38.

Did you go to the poll?
