Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism[W: 77]

Re: Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism.....

This is more the RW anti political correctness BS. On one hand they get all worked up because Obama is supposedly so politically correct he wont offend the Muslims, yet on the other hand they get almost as worked up when obama vaporizes a terrorist with a drone. i dont see how it makes any difference what you call them, but it is something the RW blogosphere goes on about. More stupid. Remeber the debates when they said Obama did not call something terrorism?
Did you NEED Obama to tell you officially yesterday that it was a terrorist attack? What difference does the timing make?

Re: Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism.....

I heard today that it was a high-capacity pressure cooker, the kind the military uses to feed troops.

We should certainly limit size of pressure cooker available, I don't see why anyone would need more than 5 cups. Also, there should be no fully automatic pressure cookers which could be programmed to go off at any time some terrorist would want.

Re: Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism.....

What I don't understand is why you'd pick a target that has like 30 medics standing around waiting. That made a huge difference.

There were other Bombs that were suppose to go off. They didn't. Who knows what more damage would have been done. Or if the medics would have even been alive to respond. When they showed the overhead on CNN. It looked like it was set to be like a line attack. One on each end and in the middle. The WSJ was reporting the police found 5.

Re: Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism.....

I girl ( 5 or 6 ) was branded a terrorist for threatening to shoot someone with a hello kitty bubble gun ... So I do believe they would label this as a terrorist act .

Well in the Politics of things......it would mean the US got hit on Obama's Watch just like Bush, Right?

I don't think that kind of pressure cooker can be fit into a backpack

Re: Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism.....

I would say when investigating.....one would look to method and by whom. Whom has the attacks within the same methodology. First Impressions would point to ME groups and or those who believe in them. Hence some speculating as to that region first. That's not to say it is......just that under what is known at this is time points in that direction.
Excuse me but that's kind-of a racist thing to say. What we need is to have a national discussion on the issue.

Re: Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism.....

Obama started his political career in the home of a couple just like the Boston Bomber

Neither can missiles or howitzers but that doesn't stop anti-gun'tards from bringing those up.

And most banned guns weren't used in the commission of crimes. So we're right on.

I am saddened and sickened by the fact that these people will not just think of the children!

Not really, and not even close.....since it does not specifically relate just to the ME. With India and Pakistan being up in the Mix.

Similar pressure-cooker explosives have been used in Afghanistan, India, Nepal and Pakistan, according to a July 2010 intelligence report by the FBI and Homeland Security. Also, one of the three devices used in the May 2010 Times Square attempted bombing was a pressure cooker, the report said.....snip~

So what you're saying is Obama should support the UN Culinary Treaty and help enforce international common-sense pressure-cooker regulations?

After all, terrorists can't make these bombs if they can't get pressure-cookers....

It is doubtful that that idea came into play in the timing of the announcement. Even then, what difference would it make waiting to call it a terrorist act? He called it a terrorist act today. A rush to judgement was not necessary yesterday. It was not needed. In fact, with television networks flogging the tragedy for every goddam ounce of viewership they can get, it was a good decision on the part of the White House to let things settle a bit.

What difference does it make in the scheme of things to Joe and Jane Sixpack? Sure political partisan dickwits are going to try to play "Gotcha!" with exactly what Obama said, exactly when Obama said it, and exactly how Obama was sitting in the Oval Office when he was being briefed. NONE of that matters except to partisan pukes, most who have the brains of a large rabbit.

Re: Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism.....

So far this is been made about Obama, terrorism, gun-antigun, bizarre IED's - all we need is drones, rendition and water boarding and we're there.

The news said backpack . I don't think anywhere in that stamen I said nothing about guns . Don't change the subject

you could have replied with this Nesco Nesco Professional 4 in 1 Digital Pressure Cooker - 4 liter - Appliances - Small Kitchen Appliances - Slow Cookers & Steamers

But oh no you tried to make it a gun argument of all things it would be about banning concealed kitchen appliances argument

And the race is?

What we need is to have a national discussion on the issue.

Providing, of course, that we remain within politically correct boundaries.

Incoming from Egypt and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Dr. Essam el-Erian, a representative of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, has apparently turned to his Facebook page to put out some confounding commentary about Monday's tragic bombing at the Boston Marathon.

According to an English translation, el-Erian expressed sympathy for the American people, but then purportedly connected the bombings to other incidents that have unfolded in the Middle East of late.

The tone was conspiratorial in nature, as the note connected global events and wondered who is planting Islamophobia. Here's how Foreign Policy's Passport blog frames the message:

A common criticism of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood has always been that it delivers one message in English to an international audience, and another message entirely in Arabic to its domestic audience. If anyone is ever looking for an example of this, they need to look no further than the Islamist organization's reaction to the bombing of the Boston Marathon.

In English, the Brotherhood's political party released a statement "categorically reject[ing] as intolerable the bombings committed in the U.S. city of Boston," and "offer[ing] heartfelt sympathies and solemn condolences to the American people and the families of the victims."

In Arabic, senior Brotherhood leader and the vice chairman of the group's political party Essam el-Erian took a different tack. In a post on his Facebook page, he condemned the Boston attack -- but also linked it to the French war in Mali, the destruction in Syria and Iraq, and faltering rapprochement between the Turkish government and Kurdish rebels.

And he didn't end there. While one might be confused as to what he is alluding to throughout the Facebook post, at the end of his writings it becomes clear: He's looking for someone -- mainly a group -- to blame for what he sees as potentially-coordinated unrest in the Middle East.

"Who disturbed democratic transformations, despite the difficult transition from despotism, corruption, poverty, hatred, and intolerance to freedom, justice tolerance, development, human dignity, and social justice?," el-Erian asked. "Who planted Islamophobia through research, the press, and the media? Who funded the violence?"

It's difficult to tell who the Muslim Brotherhood official is blaming for the unrest. But his claims also caught the attention of The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg, who called them "bizarre."

We'll leave you with el-Erian's full statement, below (as per mbinenglish.com):.....snip~

I just find it odd that President Obama can't call a duck a duck unless he's had time to get a feel for what the public thinks about it. So let's flip the question. Why not just call it a terror attack from the get go? What could it hurt?

No I say they go thru the motions and figure out who it is not.....then see what that leaves behind.

Re: Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism.....

I found this 30 second clip of family guy to be really strange.

URGENT - Family Guy Shows Boston Marathon, And A Terror Attack - Predictive Programming!! .

An episode of the popular show Family Guy which was first aired less than a month ago eerily predicted the Boston Marathon bombings, depicting the main character detonating two bombs in addition to winning the marathon by killing the rest of the participants.

Uh no...this is grade A BS....These two scene never happened together. They were put together by someone. Watch that entire episode and you'll see that they are unrelated within the cartoon.

Re: Obama Says Boston Bombings an Act of Terrorism.....

I think it is the repsonsiblity of those in charge to make accurate statements. Why is it soooo important to the right Obama uses the word terror as soon as something happens. It makes no difference what he says, what he does does. Why does the RW waste so much time on stupid meaningless stuff? he did not call it terrrorsim for 24 hours. Wow.
