China and the US have vowed to work together to persuade North Korea to give up its nuclear programme and to settle tensions through dialogue.
A Chinese statement issued during a visit by US Secretary of State John Kerry said the nuclear issue was the "shared responsibility of all parties". Link.

About time China stepped up and leashed North Korea in.

The North says it has also been angered by joint US-South Korean military exercises.
Though its rhetoric has been more bellicose than usual, analysts say it fits a long-standing pattern, and may be intended to boost the popularity of Kim Jong-un, who came to power last year.

The boy needs to learn that there are better ways to boost popularity - threatening nuclear strikes is not one of them

I think it's probably time for war. Dialogue will not work in my opinion.

One) Just because China says that in public - does not mean they are doing the same thing in private.

And two) why would NK give up nukes? They are starving, broke and the only thing (imo) keeping their brutal regime in power is the manufactured thread of an American invasion.

Giving up nukes means they give up the one edge they have.

Then why would the people continue to put up with all the starvation/poverty crap if the threat of America invading fizzles?

Imo, no way Pyongyang ever gives up nukes so long as the present regime is in power...they simply cannot if they want to remain the leaders.

And politicians/generals are not known for wanting to give up power.

And besides, it is the only way they can extort food/oil/stuff from the West - using the nuke threat.

They give up nukes, what will they say?

'give us lots of stuff or we threaten to launch an attack using are INCREDIBLY outdated conventional weapons against the extremely well equipped South/U.S.?

I doubt many outside of South Korea would fear that much.

Other then killing a lot of people with artillery (since Seoul is very close to the border) - everyone knows they have virtually no chance to conquer the South.

And if they did attack - I doubt America/South Korea would settle for just pushing them out of SK, I am quite sure they would not stop until the Pyongyang is captured and there is a regime change.

And the North definitely will not risk that.
