If only these women were armed? Or if only the profs all were packing heat...

(CNN) -- Two women were shot Friday at a New River Community College campus located inside a mall in Christiansburg, Virginia, a town spokeswoman said.
The suspected shooter was taken into custody, spokeswoman Becky Wilburn said in a statement.
"The mall is presently being cleared of shoppers and to ensure there are no further victims," she said at mid-afternoon. "At this time, we do not believe there is any continuing threat to the community at large."
One victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital while the other was taken by ambulance, according to Wilburn.

Better ban every gun in the United States and forbid women from attending college now.

If only we could rid ourselves of posters who crudely exploit the misfortunes of others for their own political gain.

A community college inside a mall? That is weird. Hope the best for them.

No kidding. Next he'll be flying to the college campus to do a pro-second-amendment rally using survivors as a backdrop......

..........wait..........

We're mostly in agreement here. The only difference being that I've no reason to believe our current officials don't empathize with the victims/families, nor do I have any reason to doubt they feel these measures would help prevent such situations from occurring again. The OP obviously paid no consideration to any aspect other than political opportunism.

What is this the second college in week with an attack. Is this a type of copycatting or have we just gone batcrazy in this country.

You have to love righties who actually buy their own bull****. As if you're doing something other than the very same thing?

I simply jumped the shark. You know damned well those very same comments, which have already appeared here since in various forms on this thread, would have appeared in earnest from one of you right wing hacks,

Let me get this right. you are calling a351 a "right wing hack"?

and its people like you who have are in ecstasy every time there is a shooting so you can whine about gun owners who you blame for opposing your left wing agenda

And it's people like you that haven't a ****ing clue. The point was a simple one. I'm tired of reading about the daily shootings. You righties continue to suggest more guns are the answer. And the shootings keep getting worse.

Both Columbine and Virginia Tech had armed law enforcement officers on their campuses. A lot of use they were. Arming teachers with guns only means they're the first to get blown away.

That was my point. I was simply beating the whack job righties around here to the punch.

And VA Tech was all done with handguns. A lot of use an AR-15 ban would be.

This shooter was a graduate of some sort of police citizen police training, was a student at the CC, and fired a shotgun through a glass window and basically surrendered immediately. One of the victims was injured by glass and buckshot in her hand. All that per a report I just saw on my local news. Didn't really say anything about the other victim. Local news near the shooting probably would have the most in depth coverage but it doesn't interest me enough to seek it out.

Ah, no. Violence, in fact, is down across the board over the last couple of centuries.

In fact they were. Columbines' guard got into a firefight with one of the shooters allowing students to flee, and helped to organize their escape. Furthermore, the Virginia Tech shooter used pistols, and reloaded several times, indicating that the "assault weapons ban" and "hi-cap magazine ban" would have been completely useless. The VT armed responders took too long to get to the scene and the shooter killed himself first, after murdering five faculty members and 27 students. An Armed student or teacher would have meant him getting stopped before he reached that number and took his own life. A ban on weapons that he did not use and magazines that he did not utilize would have been just as inneffectual as the no-gun-zone he ignored.
