A secret recording of a campaign strategy session between U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell and his advisors was taped by leaders of the Progress Kentucky super PAC, says a longtime local Democratic operative.

Mother Jones Magazine released the tape this week. The meeting itself took place on Feb. 2.

Jacob Conway, who is on the executive committee of the Jefferson County Democratic Party, says that day, Shawn Reilly and Curtis Morrison, who founded and volunteered for Progress Kentucky, respectively, bragged to him about how they recorded the meeting.

Is anyone really surprised. This is the same sleazy outfit that published racist comments about McConnell's wife just a few weeks ago. I do give kudos to Conway though for blowing the whistle on the scumbags to prevent the Democrat party from being blamed.

Let's hope these two jokers spend some time behind bars.

Yeah those guys are sleazy but I don't understand why you would risk jail time to do something like that.

Maybe I'm just cynical but you have to be really naive to think meetings like that don't occur when every incumbent is up for re-election.

I bet they are going to try the "they spoke loud enough so it doesn't count as private" defense.

Whether that works or not, its still sleazy and bush league.

Looks like this group is toast. When the Democratic party throws them under the bus, it's time for them to hang it up.

Evidently their hatred for McConnell overcame their common sense, if they had any to begin with.

Of course it does. This one was just recorded and served on a platter for lefty "outrage." Which is dumb.

No shock, it's the same disgusting rag that was repeatedly attempting to have a go at Santorum over his wife's supposed "abortion" in an incredibly dishonest way. The place is WorldNetDaily level filth.

I doubt that they will do jail time. But I do think the tax exempt status of Progressive Kentucky should be removed if not right out disbanded altogether. Every party does opposition research, which I think is wrong. It brings out everything thing in the past and usually it is out of context, what should be concentrated on in a campaign is where each candidate stands on the issues and the solution to problems they bring to the table. But this is what our political system has become. Substance has no place in a political campaign anymore. Just lurid details and innuendos

From what I heard, in Kentucky one has to have permission from the parties involved prior to taping them. Some states you have to have permission from all the parties and others from just one. I just finished listening to the spokesman for the national DNC, they condemned the taping also. But he did say before providing more on the DNC stance, he wanted to wait to make sure it was these two that had been identified before saying anything more.

The two are now being interviewed by the FBI here in their Louisville office.

Hopefully they are sweating their little butts off.

Good evening Pero - hope all is well.

If you think about it, if it isn't a crime for a third party to tape a conversation between two other parties, it wouln't be necessary for the police to get a wiretap warrant to do just that.

This isn't in a way the samething as the plumbers during Nixon planting a bug in the DNC headquarters. These guys planted no bugs, but they stood outside a closed door recording the goings on with an I-Phone as I understand it, which is basically the same thing.

Damn technology - used to be you needed your Dick Tracy watch for such espionage.

Yes, and now there is speculation that Mother Jones could be in trouble.

Don't forget the decoder ring. Then there was the x-ray vision glasses. You got these things from the bottom of a cereal box or had to order them from the back of a Comic book.

It depends on how they placed the listening devices. If they broke in, it's breaking and entering and trespassing.

Aw, when life was good, and we were allowed to play with toy guns and never heard of little children actually killing playmates with real guns. Maybe we do little boys a disservice by not allowing them to play as little boys used to play and they search out their parent's real weapons instead of their own toy guns.

I haven't heard anything on that yet.

Apparently there were skunks, or moles, in the woodpile...they admitted they tape recorded McConnell's strategy sessions.

You were a child. The world seemed better because you had no idea what was happening outside your little bubble.

I thinks they need to take them there trouble-makers behind the woodshed down in the holler, if you catch my meaning...

No, when I was a child, I didn't hear about kids shooting their playmates either. It wasn't a gilded age--in the town in which I grew up, a bomb was set off at an elementary school by a crazy, killing several kids and teacher. Society has changed.

I think you hit on something there. I use to play all the time with my play guns, cowboys and indians, army, space invaders, etc. My dad when I was real young instead of buying a toy gun made a couple out of wood. Then I discovered how to put an old wooden clothes pin on the back and it became a rubber gun gun. But when I was around 10, my dad bought me a .410 shotgun and I started going hunting with him. By the time I was 12 I could get a bunch of rabbit and squirrel. I was probably 15 when I bagged my first deer.

But I agree, instead of letting kids act out their fantasies with toys. today's parents are keeping those toys away from them and it soon becomes real guns instead of toy guns and shooting real bullets instead of rubber bands.

This is what happens when through negative advertising and portraying members of the other parties as the devil incarnated.
