Participation increased fairly steadily from 1963 to the early 90s. Most of it is women joining the worforce, fast enough to offset a gradual drop in male participation. Democrats had the majority in Congress almost every year between 1933 to 1995. Republicans had the majority from 1996 to 2007 (except the Senate in 2001 and 2002).
For a guy who gives other people such a hard time about "not knowing history," you need to catch up on a few things.
Yes, but again, it's been sliding since around 2002.the participation rate is lower today than it was when the recession ended and continues to slide
Some of the drop since 2008 is due to recessionary conditions. The problem
And here you guys go again. The president is trying to compromise with the right by now putting up real entitlement reform. He is taking on a lot of heat from his party and you guys want to b**** and say that he is not being realistic.
I am convince that it is not about the debt or entitlement with people like you. It is about your manufacture hate for this president. You refuse to see him succeed even if it meant sacrificing things you want which is pretty pathetic.
There are not budget cuts by Obama so stop buying the lies. He says he is slowing the growth of spending and the 3.77 trillion dollar budget shows that. Where are the cuts in that budget?
You see, you and so many others buy the Obama rhetoric because that is what you want to do. Stop buying the rhetoric and look at the results. When you cannot win the intellectual argument you resort to charges of hatred and racism. This President's policies are economic disasters, pro govt. growth, pro entitlements. That isn't what this country was built on
Second, you will have to be a complete fool to believe that you will get 100% of what you want in a two party governing system. Hell Reagan even knew that. It takes compromise. And when the President place his neck out there and place Social Security and medicare on the table, you can at least say hey at least this guy is trying to work with me.
