Full Transcript and Audio of Mitch McConnell Campaign's Meeting on Ashley Judd

Thats a naive point of view honestly. No Democrat here anyway complained about the Mitt killed my Husband" add that was poisoning the airwaves prior to Captain Dumbsh*** re-election.

Noone is saying that a democratic representative would be any better. I know it is tough to believe, but it is possible to hold all politicians to the same standard.

Re: McConnell aides secretly taped ripping Ashley Judd

Maybe with the American people, but I can guarantee you that it would be an issue in Kentucky.

And Mitch is there to exploit such prejudice, while apparently laughing cynically at fundamentalists for believing it.

The more I read the transcipt, the more this sounds like a frat party

Judd's voice: I still choose the God of my understanding as the God of my childhood. I have to expand my God concept from time to time, and you know particularly I enjoy native faith practices, and have a very nature-based God concept. I'd like to think I'm like St. Francis in that way. Brother Donkey, Sister Bird. [Laughter.]

Presenter: Brother Donkey, Sister Bird! [Laughter.]

Male voice: The people at Southeast Christian [Church] would take to the streets with pitchforks. [Laughter.]

Their little role playing is downright weird:

Prejudice??

They are simply saying that the majority of Kentuckians will not agree with Judd's opinions on religion.

Role playing?? What the hell are you blathering about now?

So if someone "advised" Obama to nuke the whales, taping the session, then that would be shocking news as well? ;)

Yes. What kind of insane person thinks nuclear weapons are going to be an effective weapon against an aquatic creature!?

OK, then why put them on submarines? ;)

What kind of sane person thinks that Ashley Judd would actually run for office?

I'm glad we agree what Mitch McConnell is not sane.

Re: McConnell aides secretly taped ripping Ashley Judd

this might actually not be eavesdropping in accordance with kentucky law. If one of the participants consents to be taped then the conversation can be recorded. If this was internal then it would have been legal. Unlike some other states i guess kentucky does require all participants to make the conversation private. Though i do doubt that one of the participants is a leak so someone probably committed a felony.

Of course, i have a problem with this law on both sides. I am one of those people who believes when you enter public service as a government legislator or executive the public has a right to know what you are saying. That goes for both parties and any candidates. I think we all would have a much better idea of both party's intentions if we could hear everything those people said. granted certain things should be redacted for national security reasons, but when politicians are in their private meetings they are making decisions and promises that effect us all, and because of that their words should be very public. If they want more privacy then they can chose another line of work.

Re: McConnell aides secretly taped ripping Ashley Judd

Nothing immoral about trying to personally attack a person based on their past psychiatric history.

I guess I won't hear a peep about attacking Palin's views based on her kid's history as a 16 & Pregnant reject or her milking of a mentally challenged kid for votes, or whatever other personal history we were told we couldn't use to attack Palin.

Then again, if this had been Obama's plan or his name was even mentioned in a conversation between two guys in a coffee house plotting something similar, we'd hear about leftist smear tactics or Chicago politics or some other such boogieman.

somebody bugged the meeting, apparently. if you ever wondered what goes on in a strategy session, you'll find it interesting.

Planning to smear someones personality is wrong. So is bugging someones office for political gain. So is the hypocrisy of anyone who tries to make us think only Republicans act this way.

i've never argued that.

This wasn't business though, this was campaign planning. I cant agree that once you think about running for office, the public has a right to every conversation you have.

I guess you missed the pitchfork reference -- an allusion to ignorant peasants taking up arms in an irrational way. Mitch was laughing at those simple fundies. I mean they are ludicrous, but the cynicism is rather disgusting since he wants them to vote for him

I seriously doubt that Mitch has to worry about who the members of Southeast Christian Church would vote for. Hell would freeze over before they'd vote for a pro-abortion person who laughed at their religious beliefs like Judd.

Yeah, hence his cynicism.

How very Nixonian of the left wing website Mother Jones

Aside from using the exact same description that McConnell chose to use... this is funny coming from someone that I'd bet my last damn dollar was probably ejaculating to any and all of those highly bastardized and bogus James O'Keefe videos.

Confused...are you suggesting that the tape that Mother Jones published is bastardized and bogus?

OR are you using James O'Keefe's videos to legitimize Mother Jones'?

I'm saying that Mother Jones didn't report anything wrong. They put up the text that was said. No ripping out of context and all that jazz.

Full disclosure though, I think those Progress KY guys should face the charges they got coming their way... but I don't see anything that MJ did wrong.

In the O'Keefe videos people incriminate themselves through their actions and words. People in those videos for the most part tell others how to break the law, ect. That's why they are so explosive.

In this McConnell tape, which is really just opposition research confirming Judd is a loon (Democrats have shown their stupidity once again by even proposing her as a serious candidate) this was a private meeting behind locked doors. The people who did the recording were not part of the meeting. Were not being spoken to. Were not being given advice that is in contradiction with the law, ect.

McConnell's team were only reading Judd's own looney words. Emotional liberals call this "smearing".

Confused again. Mother Jones did nothing wrong by publishing information that was garnered illegally (based on your post)?

It was info handed to them that they published. They did not record it. They did not pay these guys to record it. So what is it that you are accusing MJ of having done illegal or wrong?

You're right, MJ did nothing wrong.
