Full Transcript and Audio of Mitch McConnell Campaign's Meeting on Ashley Judd

Re: McConnell aides secretly taped ripping Ashley Judd

I'm shocked that anyone is shocked by this. Did anyone really think this stuff doesn't go on?

I'm saying that Mother Jones didn't report anything wrong. They put up the text that was said. No ripping out of context and all that jazz.

Full disclosure though, I think those Progress KY guys should face the charges they got coming their way... but I don't see anything that MJ did wrong.

Wrong. MJ changed the transcript to make it look like McConnell's aids were working on the campaign while on the government payroll.

Bugging offices (if thats what happened), or political discussions?

It was info handed to them that they published. They did not record it. They did not pay these guys to record it. So what is it that you are accusing MJ of having done illegal or wrong?

Just curious...

If a politicians email is hacked, and the hacker provides the emails to the media, should the media "report" the information in them? Not in terms of legality on the part of the journalist, but in terms of right/wrong or journalistic ethics.

Re: McConnell aides secretly taped ripping Ashley Judd

It's not ****ing logic, its ****ing dirty politics. If the man was worth having in office he should be able to get people to vote FOR him, rather it seems he knows noone will so he instead is focusing on how to get people to vote AGAINST his opponent. That is pathetic.

Politics is war with words. ALL is fair in war.

If the information does not fall under a reasonable expectation of privacy, then yes. Elected politicians communications in the course of doing their job should be transparent.

Re: McConnell aides secretly taped ripping Ashley Judd

Was your point simply to summarize one of the major problems with the American electoral process?

In politics there is no such thing as fair. I don't consider it a problem. I like and prefer freedom of speech. The more the merrier. All you have to do is look at the campaign rhetoric from the late 1700's to the early 1800's and you will see that quite frankly nowadays the rhetoric is actually quite bland and very tame. They campaign like little girls most of the time. They don't sling mud like they used to. If a modern contender went up against a early 1800's one, modern contender would get their lunch ate and their head handed to them on a engraved silver platter.

Re: McConnell aides secretly taped ripping Ashley Judd

It's isn't immoral to discuss the quotes and statements made by your opponent in order to determine how to fight against them during an election...it's ****ing logic.

No, no, no... Republicans are forbidden to use the words of their opponents verbatim, and if you do... the journ-O-lists and the likes of head of joaquin will be on the attack. It's your fault, you are guilty for bringing up the idiocies of the Democrat/Socialist candidate. The 2008 election proved that perfectly. It is the norm today.
