Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87 [W:113]

The majority in Northern Ireland want to remain British. As a Catholic I sympathize with the Catholics there, but not the Catholic terrorists. However, it is the democratically expressed will of the people of Northern Ireland to remain British. I respect that.

What reason would you have to sympathise with Catholics if you think her only role was protecting the democratic will of the population from terrorists?

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

Of course.. but it's for economic reasons and for fear what would happen if there was a United Ireland. Unionist would go ape **** and since they are the largest population.. you have to sway them. No way you are gonna sway the Never! Never! Never! crowd until the likes of Scotland leaves the Union.

let them leave we don't need them anymore!

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

Hmm. It's a fine line for me. My rational head says one thing, my instinct and emotions say something else.

That sums it up perfectly for me! I have seen many reasonable people struggling to hide their joy at her death. They want to rise above it and almost brush it off but the scars are too deep even after all these years.

I am sure they'll be happy to take their Oil with them if they are Scotland and Northern Ireland would like to take all that gold in Tyrone.

its not all theirs though! Because of the border we get to take a chunk.

Like this guy? He certainly had dirty hands.

So it's your conclusion that every working man who went to a pub in northern England was a communist agitator? You know nothing about the UK or its social structure, so I'd suggest you quit while you're able. Or stick to the tourist spots in London if you ever visit there.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

England would lose Forties, Shetland, Moray and Northern Scotland Coast so in reality that's like 80% plus of the Northern Sea Oil that England has rights to.

I sympathize with them because I am Catholic and the reason for the Protestant majority in Ulster is the British occupation.

**** the Catholics sympathy the protestants have been their for hundreds of years and have rights as well, if they don't like it they are welcome to move south of the border.

Now where did i say that? Can you see it anywhere at all?

If so quote the passage and get back to me, okay?

It seems you've spent too much time in a northern pub.

The scars are too deep?

Are we dealing with juveniles here? Adults tend to move on, rather than whining and complaining a generation later.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

Jumping with glee are you?

Rest in peace great lady.

Now I will rant...I have been following politics for over 50 years and I can't believed the disgusting behavior of the left on the news of her death....I mean to celebrate and party at the news of her death is unbelieveable. You would think its as low as it can get when at your so called rallys you burn our troops in effigy but now this to say the things they have after she has died is unforgiveable, For once I am at a loss for words. You lefties should be ashamed of yourself and be denoucing these activities.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

Who have I insulted? Certainly not you, and Medusa and I are very good friends, I certainly wasn't insulting her. The only person I've insulted is Thatcher. Why? Because:
  1. She destryoed British manufacturing industry quite deliberately.
  2. She created the service-sector-based economy that is currently delivering poverty and unemployment to the entire nation.
  3. She deliberately destroyed traditional working class communities and demonised their unions and their organisations.
  4. She mismanaged British overseas dependencies and this directly led to the Flaklands war. She shamelessly used the Falklands conflict in order to engineer her 1983 election victory. Prior to the Falklands her popularity was in the toilet.
  5. She sold off national assets to her carpet-bagging capitalist mates at rock-bottom prices, effectively giving public money to her political allies.
  6. She introduced a despotic and discriminatory poll tax that united the nation against her. She lost that one.
  7. She introduced legislation outlawing all mention of gays and lesbians in all schools.
That's just seven reasons why I'm not mourning her.

im not so convinced she destroyed british manufacturing or british self reliance as somuch the original labour party destroyed it.

ive known quite a few brits, most bon and raised in england then moved to the us in the 70's.most flat out refuse to buy anything british made because they believe they are utter piles of crap.

most british cars ive seen in the seventies had the quality of something crafted by a drunk and the technology of amodelt.

thatcher didnt kill british manufacturing, the labour party id.before thatcher came in,the british govt kept subsidizing companies that were failing because they were producing extremely poor quality products while paying top dollars to their employyees.by the late seventies englands economy became stagnant, and it was evident that if the labour party had continues, the british economy would have fully collapsed.

the lack of competition came as the country protected failing companies, allowing them to fail even further while being protected, until the point they were socialized, meaning they never became efficient, never were able to handle free trade, and were only good if all other competition was eliminated and they were the only companies available.

Re: Baroness Thatcher dies, age 87

It's strange how when a sycophantic msm isn't orchestrating a positive take on the likes of Reagan or Thatcher, there is an outpouring of hatred...................

They have no shame, no shame at all. We have always known that because they demonstrate their inhumanity repeatedly, as we can see by their record. That's always been who they are and we must recognize it.

Nor can I. I can't understand the celebrating in the streets over this woman's death. Maybe I am coming from an "Ask not for whom the ell tolls--it tolls for thee" place, but I can't even imagine dancing in he streets or breaking out the bubbly because a political opponent died.

But never mind...the shame is on them who have rejoiced in a fellow traveler's death.

And, no--anticipating future posts--I wouldn't rejoice at the death of even a Pol Pot, much less a person whose political idealogy I didn't share. Draw your own conclusions about those who celebrate death in this shameful way.

Part of the beginning of the disintegration of the AngloAmerican world was the studied obliviousness of the followers of Reagan and Thatcher to the very real emotions they both were evoking in their respective countries.................

Really? Whose very real emotions are you referring to?

I'm speaking of the opposition. There were certain people buying into her meme, and , of course, the aforementioned sycophantic msm, but alot of people were completely alienated......................

She hurt the feelings of her opponents you mean? I'm not sure the msm was ever much on her side.

"Meme" has really caught on, it seems.

I said and meant alienated. Something about Ms. Thatcher was like she had stepped out of the 50's, which , of course, explains her appeal to the American Right. What was "alienating" was the utter absurdity of even imagining you could teleport an entire civilization back in time. Sort of Pol Potish..........................

Weren't the British people quite happy in the 1950's, with the victory over the Nazis and all that hope for the future? In fact 'the American Right' didn't vote for Mrs.Thatcher, the British people did.

Do you believe Pol Pot was seeking a return to the 1950's for the Cambodian people?

No. I believe the American and Britsh conservatives implemented a radical rightwing social experiment and we are living with the consequences. I say "consquences" because that experiment wasn't merely a failure, it was a national disaster for both countries................
