Never mind that she deliberately destroyed the manufacturing base in the UK and put no job replacement policies or re-training programs in place.
When she came into power, unemployment was around 5.5%, within just 3 years it had almost tripled to over 13%. Remember, this was a deliberate policy.

It wasn't just the pits, it was vast swathes of the industry sector which were deliberately closed and she did nothing to help bring new jobs into the region or any re-training programs.

She was a horrible person. No wonder she and that other knownothing, Reagan, were "soulmates".

Rest in peace, thank you for all the good you did for the UK and the world.

Changing my sig today in memory of the Iron Lady.
"I came to office with one deliberate intent: to change Britain from a dependent to a self-reliant society - from a give-it-to-me to a do-it-yourself nation. A get-up-and-go, instead of a sit-back-and-wait-for-it Britain."

I've came into this thread a little late, but what is striking, is there's not a single poster sitting on the fence

Divisive should really have been her middle name...

I disagreed with most of her policies as I think they did more harm than good, but there's no point in spitting on her grave because the Margaret who did those things faded away years ago. Her purpose was served and now she can rest.

If anything, her passing is yet another sign that her generation is starting to disappear and newer, more innovative thinkers can take over.

Yeah, like Sarah Palin, the true intellectual heir of Reagan's and Thatcher's knownothingism.

About the Queen, but apropos of Thatcher and her "Falkland War Machine". The funniest SCTV bit ever.
